Whaaa??? The R-Gun is the best formation ever, and that running play is the bomb. It got the Bills to 4 consecutive Super Bowls.

Edit: This thread is about the defense, and it sucks worse than the offense right now.
    Prediction:
    Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

By Dig Deep, he must mean falling behind early.

The game plan seems to be Flounder in the 1st half and then ask each other WTF just happened at Halftime.

You forgot the crucial piece: roll over and die in the second half.

Our running game was fine last night. 4.1 average and there were no runs for losses. A couple of no gains but mostly 2-3 yards at least.

Here are the runs (separated by each drive):

            1Q

            Gordon: 5 yards
            Woodhead: 5 yards
Gordon: no gain (negated by penalty)
            Woodhead: 4 yards

            Woodhead: 6 yards

            Gordon: 3 yards
            Woodhead: 15 yards

            3Q

            Gordon: no gain

            Brown: 10 yards

            Gordon: 3 yards
            Gordon: no gain
            Woodhead: 2 yards
Woodhead: 1 yard (This was the stupid draw play that Gruden saw coming inside the 10 yard line)

It's time for team tank to hit the field. Let Clemens hand off the rest of the season to Donald Brown, and save Rivers, Woodhead and the handful of other guys who should actually still be on the team next year watch this trainwreck from the safety of the bench. Shut down Verrett, and then tell Pagano to do whatever he wants because him and the rest of his defense are a pile of multi-flush floaters.
No way I want Rivers on the bench in the last year of the San Diego Chargers. Nobody put a gun to his head to sign that extension, I want our best players out there.

Ok, he can hand off to Donald Brown.

By my calculations that's 12 first half runs and 8 second half runs. So clearly, that makes sense with us playing from being behind the entire second half. Hard to believe Gordon is getting so few carries. This is your first round pick and it's a lost season. Why are you not trying to build around this guy?

If the Chargers ran the ball in the second half more, then people would complain that McCoy sits on the lead - allowing the other side to always come back and beat us.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I dont see it that way at all. As a coach, you have to do what makes sense. The approach they took didn't. They could have tried to run the ball some more just to run clock and give Rivers a break from the rush. Also, you had essentially two rookies out there at WR (and ne that acted like one in S Johnson). To me, that was a scenario just begging to rationalize play calling. Heck, you don't even have to go full-on run. Just give it a credible shot.

                        Reich is a douche.

I guess I'd ask why they continued to play with three WR when their better players were at TE? And yes, Reich is a douche.

And agreed, I think McCoy's biggest weakness is his inability to adjust to gameday conditions. He can take notes later. He should be looking at big picture during game.
