QB Justin Herbert was expected to decide during warm-ups if he would take a painkilling injection in his fractured rib cartilage to try to play against the Jaguars, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Herbert is active for Sunday's game.
Herbert and KA questionable. Linsley and JC doubtful.
Gonna be a battle.ESPN Screename: GoBolts02

Reportedly Herbert and Allen are pushing to play (as you would expect), but Parham was downgraded to "doubtful" yesterday. He won't be playing.Originally posted by richpjr View PostThe injury uncertainty is killing me. Will Herbert play? If he does, will he be effective? How about Allen and Parham?

Herbert says “football is a game where you play with a lot of discomfort. I don’t think anyone ever feels really good…week in week out guys are dealing with things. So, it’s just part of the game, being tough and making sure your body’s ready to go when you play.”

For Herbie's - and the team's - long term success, he should sit until he's sufficiently healed, IMO. The doctor's are saying "several weeks to several months". He probably shouldn't play again until November, at the earliest. In which case, we can start talking about 2023 now. Because without Herbie, I doubt we win another game. Our defense is not THAT dominating; nor do we have a Cleveland Browns-like running game. If teams were putting 9 in the box before, there's no reason to stop doing that now.Originally posted by Formula 21 View PostI hope Herbert sits. Let the ribs get a little less painful.
Losing Herbert was the #1 Nightmare Scenario heading into this - or any - season. And it happened. That's life as a Chargers fan, I'm afraid.
