We need to enjoy the W.
        Accept the pennies from Heaven.
Later this season, aggressiveness will get us a win when we need it.

That's two in a row for ol' wu the Official Game Day Thread Starter.

        Warning.

In 2013, I got us from 5-7 to the Playoffs.
And a Wildcard W at CIN.
If Mike McCoy can't stop me.
        Neither can Staley Genius.

        I promised you a W today.
Did not guarantee you would like it.
        Put those pitchforks away.
The hay is already in the barn.
        Until next week.

        :coffee:

Maybe we do play modern football.

I'm not as made at the decision to go for it.
But I really thought they were going to punt.
Try and draw the offsides, maybe take a delay of game, and then punt.
I guess one benefit of not converting is there's no chance for a special teams big return.

In the end... better to be a dumb and lucky winner than a safe and unlucky loser.
Ekeler had a hell of a game! Pipkins came back!
After that 0-14 start, I'm just glad to have the win!

super conservative play calling and it almost backfired with Mike
just saying, there were many better options before 4th down.
Super conservative 3rd down run up the gut, then a wild ill-advised gamble on the next play.

I respect your opinion but the numbers don’t agree. If anything it should make us excited because we’re innovators in the nfl using new techniques. I think teams are going to start imitating us and it’s often not always easy being a trail blazer but the rewards can be awesome.

With all our injuries the Football Gods decided to gift us one. You have to get a couple of these every season to make the playoffs. LOL!

Just really poor play calling with a stud QB

I think the numbers do not take into consideration who the opposing QB is and that CLE would not be able to use its ground game had we punted. I would have liked our pass defense not having to focus on the run against Brissett any day of the week with not much time on the clock.

So going for it makes sense and is playing to win and not to lose.

You as much as me know that in the nfl punting there was about 50/50 to be win.
we should have punted to make it difficult for a bad QB who struggles passing the ball...... there was not enough time left for them to run the ball to get in FG range.....

going for it on 4th down only would have made sense if we were playing a good QB, who passes the ball well.....

You’re sighting overall stats, not the particular type crossing field plays in tight coverage. Herbert either drills it in too hard or the plays don’t look as if they were practiced enough. Some bounced off the receivers gut and others off the receivers hands.

I think they are trying to reduce the wear and tear on Herbert until he heals up a bit. We really are only getting 50% of him at this point in time.
