      3. Herbert was a rookie in 2020, reducing the effectiveness of the passing game versus later seasons.

      4. We threw much more to RBs in 2020 as a percentage of passes and those are shorter passes.

      5. I could be mistaken here, but I do not recall any huge play dropped coverages in 2020 like the two flat own blown coverages we had against CLE in 2021 on long passes to Mike Williams, including, but not limited to, a 72-yard pass play.

      6. Despite all of 1-5, the YPA numbers are a push to the nearest tenth of a yard and the yards per reception numbers are within two tenths of a yard per reception when rounded to the nearest tenth. Both numbers are trending in Steichen's favor as Lombardi's offense continues to fail in 2022 despite virtually every factor being stacked against Steichen in 2020 in any comparison versus Lombardi.
I thought the throw deep to T-Billy offense Steichen ran was so much more productive than Lombardi's, yet you are listing excuse why it wasn't. Color my confused.

After moderating them for years...i stopped...and just went right to shoving the enema(Fleet) right up there. Produces the same suffering.

I am not really sure how you can miss that there are multiple variables involved. Steichen was wearing an Anthony Lynn anvil around his neck. It is difficult to keep having to pass the ball on 2nd down and 12 and 3rd down and 12. That matters. His OL was statistically the worst in the NFL in terms of combined pass block and run block win rate. That matters. Herbert was a rookie in 2020. He is more developed as a player now due to the natural player development that QBs experience in the NFL. That matters. Allen, Williams and Ekeler all missed a number of games in 2020 and were a shell of themselves in other games. That matters.

The upshot of it all is that Steichen is a better play caller than Lombardi is, but other factors severely limited his success and yet still the Steichen offense, even with the Anthony Lynn anvil around his neck, was still a virtual tie with what Lombardi has done and Lombardi's numbers are trending downward, so in a few weeks they may actually favor Steichen's offense. And Steichen's Eagles are doing better in terms of yards and scoring than we are despite having less offensive talent than we have.

Most of us can see that Lombardi has done a poor job of calling plays for us in 2022. And for those that cannot, please feel free to take Lombardi's own word for it as he has admitted to bad play calling with respect to at least three of our games this season.

              Well consider the source.

All i know is Herbert didnt look himself after getting sacked and hit a couple times. I dont know for sure but it sure looked like the ribs got aggrevated.

Hec his hail mary didnt even make it to the EZ from around mid field. Just didn't look comfortable throwing for any distance and chose not to throw to open TEs down field on the last drive before OT.

I wonder if this is going to turn out to be one of those injuries that, after the year is over, he'll open up about and announce that he felt very limited because of the ribs.

IMO, the Chargers were appropriately respectful of the Broncos' defensive strength, and really limited doing the kinds of things that that invite turnovers.
He doesnt understand the game enough to even consider that.
Its the same shit every week and Geez I have him on ignore and still see the quotes lol.
No long passes, Air yards, Lombardi sucks, yada, yada, yada.
No consideration to how Herbert feels.

Just a stat guy and we aren't looking to be first in every stat catagory. Just more points than the other guys.

And ill say this, Sorry but Herbert is no where near the defense reader yet that Phil was for calling protections for seeing a blitz coming.
He will get there some day but he isn't yet.

It's why Rivers wasn't sacked a lot dispite being as non mobile as can be.

Here’s a picture of the 4th and 2 late in the game. The DB grabbed onto the WRs pads and pulled him backwards. No PI call. So the D can commit all the PI on 4th downs that they want. The worst thing that can happen is the same as a completed pass. And if the officials don’t call if, they get the ball back.

Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                      Let’s win one for Mack.
