Other than that, they are trying. Last year was pretty good, inj wise.
    It's random and unpredictable.
Well as a long time Charger fan I can say while injuries are not predictable they seem to be inevitable and to key players.

You cannot train or spend money to prevent a DB from bending your ankle in half on a tackle like happened to Williams. You cannot train or spend money to prevent a LB from cracking Herbert's ribs. You cannot train to prevent a torn muscle like Bosa or Slater. Slater's injury is a great example of that. I guarantee you his biceps are worked extensively by the team's physical science team and are as strong and flexible as can be. So blaming the injuries on the Spanos family or accusing them of causing the injuries by being cheap is just not true. They can be blamed for other things but this is just the way it goes. Last season the Ravens lost what, 5 running backs and 2-3 DB starters. Was that because Biscotti is cheap?

And the not playing in preseason explanation is spurious too. We are getting injuries in week 8. By now these guys are in football shape.

Yes last season was an outlier. The previous 2 seasons we were near the bottom. This season is rock bottom. Too many hamstring, quad etc. Keenan out since the first half of week one with a hamstring injury that looked like nothing when it happened. Parham with a couple of hamstring injuries. Kickers with quads. 2 of em.

I still think artificial turf plays a role in player injuries. Austin Johnson broke his knee Sunday on artificial turf.

We changed our coaching staff, approach and the training staff and their approach last year due to the high number of injuries the previous years. Last year it seemed to work. This year has been a disaster. So with the new approach, was last year the outlier or is this year the outlier? Or is it just random because of artificial turf and the nature of a violent sport? I tend to lean towards the latter.

Agree, the fuzzy cement is terrible. It should be outlawed in the NFL.

there’s definitely a random element due to the violent nature of the sport. But when guys get injured during a bye week it’s not the field or the sport. We played on turf the previous 3 years so that hasn’t changed. Can’t say this year is the outlier when it’s consistent with 3 of the last 4

Back in the day, had all those old multi sports stadiums - Riverfront, Three Rivers, the Vet, Busch Stadium - for example
                  articifial turf

Football seemed to evolve to grass
But fake grass is cheaper - its not artificial turf but its still not real grass

AZ rolls out turf at the Cardinals field. Why doesn't So Fi have grass

Is that artificial dirt I see? Like when Austin tried to make his cut? He slipped and what looked like dirt could be seen flying up. What is that stuff? Artificial dirt?!
