Yeah, as I said previously somewhere in this thread, he seems to trust the players that he brought in to execute on defense, but there's no real merit to his trust as the stats point out for this years' defensive efforts - we're actually worse in some important defensive categories as compared to last year. Especially when you account for the injuries, not certain where the misplaced trust comes from. Maybe the pundits did rattle him -- Staley appears to be an avid watcher/listener of these pundit talk shows, as he's been on mostly every one of them during his coaching tenure.Originally posted by cmplxgal View PostSo true:

I completely disagree. Just like when Elway was playing with Denver, the refs will NEVER call an offensive penalty against Myhommy when he is driving the team. The Chefs can commit blatant OPI, Holding, anything needed to win and it will not be called. Just see the last drive last night. Chefs had a couple of blatant holds, that ridiculous OPI and it was not called, then when the Chefs needed a first cause they were facing 4th down they got a ticky tak holding on Derwin, and I say ticky tak because both players were battling like that all game and nothing was called either way, as it should have been. But when the Chefs had to have it the flag was magically there.Originally posted by fanatic View Post
I completely disagree. Absolutely not the case. See Chris Jones penalty for bad language on a game ending play vs Indy. That call took a win away from KC. This game I could show lots of holds that the Chargers were not called on. Lots. Bottom line. Too much time was left on the clock for PM and your defense folded. Plenty of chances for the Chargers to win it incuding before the half not getting the TD.
How about the flag picked up after the helmet to helmet hit on Schuster last week. He was knocked out. That was a huge game changing non call and he is likley out a couple of weeks.Last edited by FoutsFan; 11-22-2022, 08:54 AM.

I often get the impression that the NFL has their thumb on the scale regards penalties called / not called.Originally posted by FoutsFan View Post

Anything that is not blatantly obvious should be called / not called against both teams equally.
Ticky tack PI and holding can be called on every play.
When they are game changing in the final moments, the zebras are picking the winner.
I prefer "Let 'em play" officiating. Call the really clear stuff, otherwise keep the flags in pocket.

I am glad I dont think this way. I would not bother to watch or enjoy games if I felt the fix was in.Originally posted by FoutsFan View Post

I agree. We really need 3 starting level DEs IMO. Bosa is out too much and can't be relied upon , They shouldn't be paying him teh mega bucks to be on IR.Originally posted by Boltjolt View PostAnother OG, need better LBs and a pass rusher who can get to the QB when Bosa is out, which is too often. And a TE upgrade.

Don't listen to them. It's the same story here every year. Always blaming the refs when it goes against the Chargers. But I will say the NFL does try to protect their QBs. You can't hit them low, you can't hit them high, you can't leave your feet during a tackle, touch them after the ball is released and it's a penalty even when there is no way to avoid it. For the most part it was a very clean game. Kelce is just too much for the Chargers. We really don't have anyone that can match up one on one. The Chiefs took advantage of that situation. Two critical situations that could have changed the outcome. Not going for it on 4th and inches and not wasting more time before scoring the go ahead TD late in the game. Can't leave that much time for an elite QB and TE.Originally posted by fanatic View Post

We need to be sober.Originally posted by cmplxgal View Post
I don't think Herbert had a bad game. In fact, this was the first game since he was injured in which he looked like himself. I remember seeing one bad pass, on a route Allen was running towards the left sideline fairly early in the game, and Herbert led him too far. The final INT was a desperation throw.
Added: He was 23-30, and those were two of his seven incompletions. I don't think many of the other five were bad passes, and he wasn't checking down all the time like he had been.
The Golden God did not have good pocket feel.
He missed some wide open and available receivers, while clinically going through his reads.
If we are to win, Herbert must be elite.
I truly look forward to Justin having all his weapons again.Boze...Center of Attention
