I wouldn’t worry too much about Acho since not long ago he went off about how he thinks 15 other qb’s were better than Jalen Hurts and now he is his big fan. They are as fickle as they come and just earning a living.
Great game indeed. Do have to mention the one play that resonate the most is that play where herbert faked hand off to ekeler, check right and come back to ekeler on the left. Those plays are killers to an aggressive minded defense. It keeps them honest.
Usually you can’t really tell how they play your rb since team doesn’t really shift their rb to see if anybody follows. Therefore you don’t really know if they playing man on your rb or zone. So after the fake hand off if the lb doesn’t follow, you know they are playing zone on him. And often after the hand off, the rb is after math and nobody account for him if the other team isn’t playing man. These type of plays were common when LT was in the game when he often faked hand off just to come back to catch you on the wheel route. A little cool trip down the memory lane for sure seeing secondary development on the play of rb.
Regardless if every play worked perfectly, this was a masterful game by the coaching staff. Staley had the D fired up and he completely out coached this year's wunder coach McDaniel. Tua looked lost and honestly their O only earned a single fg tonight. The fumble was a fluke on a great play by the D and the on the pass to Hill where Davis was in perfect position and unluckily tripped.
On O the usual Lombo sucks stuff was posted but we put up over 400 yards, held the ball for 39:38 seconds, had a game clinching long drive for the fg in the 4th and did not turn the ball over. And this with Herbert running for his life because our offensive line was so overmatched. To the people who says injuries should not matter - amazing how we had our signature win this year in the first game Allen and Williams played the entire game together. Injuries do matter. Can you imagine if we had Slater and Pipkins playing?
We should now be favored in our last 4 games and as someone posted, if we beat the reeling Titans and the Bills beat the Dolphins in Buffalo on Saturday, we pass the Dolphins in the WR position.
It's a good time to be an optimist.
Amazing how those go hand-in-hand!
If your QB completes 39 passes... you probably know more than a bunch of arm chair warriors.
Dolphins D was gassed in the end. If we get Derwin, Callahan, SJD, Pipkins back next week... we can beat the struggling Titans. If we get Bosa and Slater back by the playoffs... we can beat anyone.
Patriots have the Bengals, Dolphins, and Bills on their schedule still. The Patriots/Dolphins game is a win/win for us (as we now hold the tiebreaker against them.
Jets have Detroit (who just beat the Vikings), Seahawks, and Dolphins. Yep, Jets/Dolphins is another win/win for us.
Win 3 out of the next 4, and we should be in the playoffs.
Staley trolling me in the presser. He just had to credit "a hell of a game plan by our defensive staff, led by Ronaldo Hill" with an emphasis on "led by Ronaldo Hill". Stop covering for Hill and Lombardi -- I demand firings.
Perhaps the best performance by the Bolt’s defensive backfield I can remember.
I love tough, physical man to man coverage.
Don’t concede an inch.
It was a masterful plan and really showed how limited Tua's arm strength is. He simply can't throw to all parts of the field consistently and if you make it difficult for him over the middle he needs his receivers to bale him out, and they have been - but not tonight! I can't fathom how many yards Herbert could put up with a pair of receivers like that.
