Should the Chargers Tank the Last 2 Games?

What do you guys think? We could play out and try to get a 5th seed vs. AFC South winner or play starters and risk injuries. If I knew how to do a poll I would. Maybe someone can post a poll.

The LA Chargers are playoff bound for the first time since 2018 after defeating the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football.

I think we should definitely limit Ekeker's play. Imagine if we didn't have him what our lowly Lamebardi offense would be like. Ugh!!! As in ugly.

      Play to win.

Lombardi needs to earn respect to secure a job next season with the Chargers or elsewhere so forfeiting the next two games won’t help that cause.

There’s a good chance we could lose the first wild card game so that would end the season with three losses in a row and destroy any goodwill the coaches had earned up until now.

So think about it from the coaches mindset. You want to forfeit 2 out of the next three and gamble your reputation on a possible one and done playoff game?

On the other hand….if you win the next two but it’s one and done in playoffs, it will look a lot better on the resume.

No tanking but be smart with the players who might be hurt

Like James - concussion - just rest him
Ekeler - limit carries or rest

The Chargers can still get the 5th seed -- that means TN or Jacksonville.

Yes, that makes sense. Use Mack sparingly as well. Give Bosa some reps to ease him in. Let’s see what Spiller has.

I wouldn't tank (unless we need to be "Sucky for Siaki" in case he moves up on draft boards ), but I'd be hoping to see some innovative experimentation with some of our depth to see what they can do. How about trying Storm Norton as a hybrid FB/TE so Herbert has added protection, and running backs have an extra blocker and perhaps a potential pass-catching TE decoy. He's on the roster, so why not try to make use of him in some way?

Tank is intentionally losing so no. I do look at protecting the most elite players from possible injury though. No way would I go balls to the wall to try to win these last two at all cost, a wise general must keep focus on the real prize.

We’ll play for the 5th seed as long as it’s available. Staley isn’t going to want to lose to the Rams for sure. We’ll see where we are after this weekend and Monday night’s game. If it’s a difference between going to JaX or TN v going to Buffalo that will have an impact.

I agree with this. Limit the snaps of key players. If you play Daniels in the 4th quarter with Clapp at Center - thats fine. And its not rest - just limiting the chance for injury

Chargers can also get to 10 wins with a win against hte Rams - that would be a big deal to me. Being 10-7 or 11-6 is a solid season altogether

I say keep playing but be smart with who you play and how many snaps you play them

Right and you don't want to get swept by Denver either.
