We drafted PR because Brees was not good enough. Brees had one very good year for us after we drafted PR. Argue on.

Brees played 5 seasons for the Chargers and because marty mis-judged the situation we traded him in his prime! Brees #1, Drew was great game 1 when he went to NO it wasn't a progression.Originally posted by charger1_sj View Post
Based on longevity, stats, overall success PR > Fouts. It's difficult to rank in terms of stats because they played in very different eras. But PR made the POs 6 times for us and 1 time for
the Colts. Fouts made the POs 4 times. PR played longer. Brees was not great as a Charger. He became great in NO. You can also watch video of the two and make up your own mind.
For me it's PR, Fouts, Hadl. Herbert has a long ways to go. He's certainly the most physically talented of the bunch.

Using your logic, you could make a case for saying that Johnny Unitas was the best QB the Chargers ever had.Originally posted by electricgold View PostIsn't Drew Brees the grestest QB we ever had so far anyway? LOL
Drew wasn't impressive in his time with the Chargers, and neither was Unitas. Both had their greatness elsewhere, at other times.

If you going there then Tobin Rote, the only Charger QB to win a championship (SB did not exist back then, so he won the top prize available.)Originally posted by dmac_bolt View Post
Lol, attaboy! He was second best, next to Flutie!
It was a shame Brees developed slow and the team lost patience - AJ was right that he was a shit 2nd half and 4thQ QB his first 3 years. His QB rating dropped 20 or 30 points in Q4 those years, his QB Rating was 67 overall the year before they drafted Rivers. So they give up and draft #1 on Rivers and suddenly his QB Rating soars over 100 while Rivers sits on the bench!
Then Marty plays him at the end of River’s second year on the bench and breaks his shoulder in the last meaningless game after a second solid season. What a story… thats chargering front office edition right tharr!

They didn't trade Brees, they let him walk in FA because he'd injured his elbow. And I think it was an AJ decision to do so. All the Chargers got for Brees was a 3rd round compensatory pick in 2007, which turned into Anthony Waters, a complete and total bust.Originally posted by electricgold View PostBrees played 5 seasons for the Chargers and because marty mis-judged the situation we traded him in his prime!

Again wrong, Brees was great game 1 in NO it wasn't a progression and he played 5 seasons for us. Didn't Johny U only play 1 season for us at the end of his last season????? Based on my logic?Originally posted by Ghost of Quacksaw View Post

Brees was an elite QB for two seasons for the Chargers. He didn't go to the Pro Bowl in 2005 but he was still very good - he was statically better than 2004 when he made the Pro Bowl.Originally posted by charger1_sj View PostBrees had one very good year for us after we drafted PR.

you are right it wasn't a trade! But still the worst move we ever made. Brees was a better QB than Rivers everyone knows it!Originally posted by Velo View PostThey didn't trade Brees, they let him walk in FA because he'd injured his elbow.
