I was never very impressed with the play of our linebackers. Murray improved slightly (how could he not?) and I am not nearly is high on Tranquill as a lot here. Nice on the occasional well timed blitz, but just too much of a finesse player - far too many times he got obliterated on run plays or chose the wrong gap.


I hope it's not the only staffing change for the D.

As far as I'm concerned, they can fire the ENTIRE staff, save the Special Teams coach. Maybe (I don't really believe this, but), if Staley surrounds himself with competent assistants, his shortcomings can be minimized.

We fired OC, QB coach, LB coach. Those names will change I don't understand your "Product stays the same" projection..

So here is the thing - Staley has fired the ST coach last year and LB coach this year - I think a bit of a surprise
That does show me he is willing to make changes if the personality fit isn't right
Lombo and Day were easy to see. Wilhoite, kind of a shocker

I am open to any changes . I thought about OL but maybe waiting for the OC to know what kind of scheme is needed
And if the new changes at OC, QB and LB coaches are what the ST coach did - thats pretty big

First things first. Who do we fire next?

Last 2 years is all that matters. Worst to first isn't likely. Average or better in '23, probably. It'll be a point of focus for Telesco and Staley. Their jobs depend on it. New LB coach needs to fit our personnel and Staley's scheme.

Don't want to try to quantify anything - but getting Herbert to another level and that offense to another level -- look at the Chiefs - they do not have the best defense - but the offense is very good.
