Not about the number of injuries, but who: if multiple Pro Bowlers are out, no amount of reasonable depth can make up for the loss of top talent. Depth is depth for a reason, elite players are effing elite - until they can’t play. Last year we were missing a Pro Bowl LT, a Pro Bowl CB, a Pro Bowl EDGE, and had a Pro Bowl QB who couldn’t throw downfield the way he wanted to, our mid-round RB pick we were hopeful about was out all year, lost our top two Pro Bowl WRs for significant stretches…I mean shit, of course the team is gonna look pedestrian with all that going on. Other teams lost starters, big deal, not the same as losing top players in the entire league at multiple positions.

The Mike Williams injury will always and forever be tied to BS and his coaching.

So this year if the usual suspects like Allen, Bosa, Derwin, MW or JC or one of our olineman or DB's go down we can start using that as excuses again as well. Nope depth and coaching has been our major weakness and lack of response to injuries so far and if a bunch of injuries happen again and we don't have at least 1 playoff win its time to clean house. It gets to a point where enough is enough The 49ers lose their starting QB and still manage to win because they have good coaching and depth.Last edited by electricgold; 05-30-2023, 05:21 PM.

The MW injury is on BS and if he sits in the Bronco game he plays in the playoffs. TT's pick of Palmer should of came in that game and produced in place of MW, but he didn't.

Vato went down against the Jags and I think Pipkens also went down, because Sarrell was out there in the 2nd half.
Bosa rushed coming back and was ineffective.
That's a lot of people out. For starters, your starting outside corners & your starting OTs were MIA in Jacksonville in the 2nd half.
Those are crucial positions.

It may have been just as well. Herbert needed surgery on his left shoulder and the next hit could have made it much worse.
It was what it was.
Let's play 2023!

We'll see if this draft has been enough to get us a the very least a playoff win in addressing depth, but our coaching last season was only good enough to beat 1 team with a winning record. I really believe TT needs to do something with bringing in a few more vet players that are out there to give us better depth. Cook or Floyd, could be good signings. BS' first year resulted in no playoffs, do you blame injures for missing the playoffs year 1 under BS? His first 2 seasons here have been pretty similar!
10-7 Year 2 roster- paper tigers spent too much time out or played injured like Herbert.
A lot has changed, coaches, trainers, depth, off season prep. Player health.
Third time's the Charm!

if we lose all of our best players again, they yeah we’ll have problems again. Let’s just assume we won’t have so many stars all injured at the same time in 2023. After all, it’s the year of the ….“Less is more? NO NO NO - MORE is MORE!”
