He has one year left - the Chargers exercised the 5th year option on his contract.

Depends on how much of a cap hit the team takes for signing a Mayflower moving van to the roster.

Buyer Beware in 2016 the guys we extended or picked up in 2015 NO Impact or Very Little Impact

                  CB Brandon Flowers -ZERO Interceptions
OG Orlando Frankklin - 36.5 Mill contract 4th highest contract for OG in the league
WR-KR Jacoby Jones - just horrible got cut by two different teams in one season
DT -Corey Leguit - Resign Big Contract - Little Impact
WR- Stevie Johnson 45 catches 497 yards 3 TD
S- Jimmy Wilson was cut 14 games into the season

                  CUTS

LB-Donald Butler - his play or lack of play says it all and we gave this fool a big contract in 2014
TE/FB -David Johnson known for blocking which I haven't seen
DE- Kendell Reyes - hes regressed every year
OG -Johnnie (Porchop) Troutman just bad cut

Id keep Reyes for a tolerable salary. He is young and i thought played better but not great this year. Worth keeping unless they pick up a vet stud...prefer he be a rotation guy.

Ricardo Mattews a big yes. Not a big contract but i thought as a rotation guy he was solid and made some plays.

Robinson yes too....anything to keep Williams on the bench! Thought he had a nice year.

Butler...ugh. Thought he was better than last year but not a playmaker worth the contract. Id keep him if its a cap wash as he is a decent vet. Could see them offering a reduced contract even as he hasnt earned it.

Im not ready to dump Flowers yet...1 more year to see if he bouncs back.

Gates yes and Green. Give stevie another year.

I'd like to see a CB in the draft in the third round or so. In the Perriman mold hopefully. I like Mike Jorden out of MO, maybe he slides to the 4th...

Reyes and Liuget are not very good DE, and it has hurt our run defense for years. They also are inconsistent pass rushers. Everyone knocks our NT, but it is the play of the DE that just sucks balls. I think both would be much more effective as 3 technique DT in 43 defenses, which would be a good reason to let them go.

David Johnson has been miscast as a FB in our offense. He is a much better inline blocker, which is good because he is the only true inline TE who can block on the roster. Gates and Green are both slot TE or Hbacks.

restricted free agents: T Joe Barksdale, QB Kellen Clemens, WR Malcom Floyd, TE Antonio Gates, TE Ladarius Green, T Chris Hairston, TE David Johnson, T Jeff Linkenbach, DE Ricardo Mathews, LB Joe Mays, TE John Phillips, DE Kendall Reyes, G Johnnie Troutman, CB Cassius Vaughn, C J.D. Walton, S Eric Weddle.

Truthfully, you move on without signing any of them.

I'm sure Gates will get re-signed but a year early instead of a year too late. Plus, give him a chance to sign with a contender.
