Maybe - but there must have been something on tape that got him drafted. Who really knows is he's good or not? My point was that It would have been nice to see him in real game action to see if he could help before we burn more picks in THIS draft on the RB position.

Not going to rehash it again, but the Denver game was a missed opportunity on MANY levels.

I think a 5th rounder in this years draft of RBs could replace him.

It would be nice if we knew if we needed to replace him. I'd rather spend that 5th on a WR, OT, DT, CB . . . . . .

agree on this. he was a 4th round pick. let's see what he can do in a meaningless week 17 game.

sometimes you gotta let it play it out on the field - Terrell Davis was playing special teams for the Broncos before getting his shot at running back (and future super bowl MVP).

what a missed opportunity. if he is that fucking bad, they should just cut him now.

Can we agree that the Charger front office is subpar in judging horse flesh in RBs? Pray that Kellen Moore is a solid influence in the RB evaluations in the scouting room, and the Chargers address the position on Day Two or Day Three, as I view it. YMMV.

Keenan Allen - Before the 2023 league year begins, the Chargers need to get below the salary cap. The team needs to find a way to clear $20.2 million and designating Keenan Allen as a post-June 1st cut would clear $17.5 million off the books. Even if they don’t use the June 1st designation, the team can still save $14.8 million.

The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly deciding whether or not to cut Keenan Allen, as the star wide receiver carries a massive cap hit.

All teams must be under the 2023 salary cap. March 15 (4 p.m.). Tomorrow is March. Beware the ideas of March.

If they were to find a trade partner -- granted that is post March 15-- the team would save $16.3m, no future dead cap, and might even get a 4th round pick for him ('da Bears )

It is a tough decision since he has been such a good player for so long - its also the way to get a lot of cap savings without pushing onto the future.

No interest in becoming Mickey Loomis + the Saints. I would be interested only in extending Bosa due to his youth and contract size. Cut Allen and Gerald Everett and Feiler, and let Kellen Moore build his offense.

Agreed - plus they have a franchise QB on the roster - don't limit him to one year in 2023 only to scale back in 2024. Maybe a sligh scale back but this would give the team a good 4-5 year window if they do this offseason correctly

If KA is so great at this stage in his career like certain Chargers fans seem to believe, it wouldn't even be a question IF they were able to find a trade partner because there would be one! Truthfully he isn't at the level anymore it would seem where a #1 WR needs to be and that is what will be asked of him if he remains here. HE was great when he was under 31, but his better days seem very much to be behind him! Now seems to be the time to give Herbert some younger WR's that can grow with him for the next 5 years of his career.

I do not think you can tell the league office that you plan to cut Keenan Allen after June 1st and that will count as cap savings before March 15th.
I think you have to be below the salary cap by March 15th.

So if we are below the salary cap by March 15th, there's no reason to cut him on June 1st unless we draft a couple of wide receivers and one of them is a high pick and figures to be playing a lot while MW and Palmer are the #1 and #2.

                        1. Mason Taylor TE LSU
                        2. Quinshon Judkins RB Ohio st

                        6. Zah Frazier CB UTSA
                        6. Jarquez Hunter RB Auburn
                        6. Jay Higgins LB Iowa

The Chargers still need to have money to make moves. So, they could release Feiler, Hopkins, restructure Bosa to get to March 15 to be cap compliant. Meaning 1 dollar below the cap. Than, post March 15, can trade Allen or release with a post June 1 - and get the 15-17m of savings to make moves in free agency.

The Chargers need to move 40m basically -- so Allen can be on the roster on March 15 but not March 18.
