MW was a freak accident but this was mi major bitch with Staley. It should have been treated like a scrimmage with all Chargers backups starting.

It depends in how things are going, health & how they're practicing . I'd guess 6 early season, Get some rotation and try them in different assignments.
Stunts, rushes, etc. AJ, Bash, Fox, Tito, Matlock, Jerrod Clark.

        Agreed . . . . . . . Staley whiffed on a gift wrapped opportunity. This year he's going to have to work for everything . . . . . .

          Los Angeles Chargers
          Drafted: Round 6, 200th overall

I projected the Chargers to select Matlock in advance of the draft because he's a perfect fit on the defensive line. His power and underrated quickness will earn him a spot on the field, and I expect his snap scout to increase at 5-technique as the season wears on.

More experience, Staley's plus Moore , Nuss should produce better choices in a similar situation.
Work? Definitely. Everybody. We have a gift wrapped golden opportunity this year IMO. Lots of top personnel, a top OC and QB coach.
All Staley and the D have to do is be about average. Better would nice. We have to have run D to match up with our top 10 pass D.
It looks like we're built to go. Make it work Chargers.

Majority of TPB wanted starters to play some in that game.

That was my call on the first day of that game week, maybe the earliest on TPB. And I was specific - MDub was at the top of my list of no-plays, literally #1 on my do not play list right here.

be that as it may - it was not a universal opinion. Not with coaches, not with pundits, not here at TPB. Reid played starters, albeit not as long - but an injury can happen on one play and that play could be the first play.

I look forward to what he does given the same situation again, i am sure the facts as unfolded are not lost on him.

Edit: if it were me, they all would have been on the plane and at the game. No weekend couch lounging here. They’d go through all team meetings, meals, events etc like a normal week.

Scott Matlock is among the Day 3 picks that this writer thinks could "compete for starter snaps" this year.
