It's crazy what a good OC can do, the new improved scheme maximizes the skills our RB room has, last year's scheme it only maximized the talents of one of our backs...now it seems like our RB room is stacked, even Shampklin is better than any of the bottom 3 guys from last year's TC and he is currently RB#5 and can only best hope for a PS spot...
I've been concerned by looking ahead to 2024 and wondering about what the chargers were going to look like at RB with Ekeler's departure, but the future looks hell of bright with Spiller, Dotson, and even Shampklin who is a very versatile and intelligent back with receiving skills and also has a burst...they might even bring back Kelley if he's cheap, but I don't think they'll be needing to draft a RB high in 2024, that's significant when you consider that so many big changes will happen at top salary positions, Mack, JC Jackson, Bosa, Allen, and Mike Williams will all have huge cap hits on a team that will also be losing Michael Davis to free agency and looking forward to locking up Rashawn Slater, Josh Palmer and other young core guys long term...it's nice to know that the 2024 draft will not add RB to it's needs, not when CB, WR, and Edge will take priority...
Kellen Moore's impact was obvious. Backups executing team blocking, not just OL, and RBs hitting the holes or edges was almost like a Vegas magic act it was so different from the recent past.
Just one game but I loved what I saw.
Oh my, I'm afraid we have a Late Majority or Laggard here...trust me, if the Bolts are foolish enough to send Dot to the PS, he'll be snapped up quicker than you can say "Wes Welker"...
So...just how does a team protect a PS guy from getting plucked? Meet or beat the plucker team's terms?

forget the practice squad, he wouldn't get past waivers...

Then it’s..keep five RB’s total (above the NFL avg.) or lose him? I bet we see a lot more of Dotson for them to decide on that.
Moore doesn't use fullbacks and Horvath is not a real FB anyway, why is he so fucking indispensable all of a sudden? the guy did fuck all last year and his STs play can be replaced, I don't get the whole Horvath is automatically making the squad shit, makes no sense to me...only 12 NFL teams even carried a FB last season...and Horvath isn't even a true FB, he's just large slow running back...even rountree was faster than Horvath...

Fullbacks are dying out in today’s NFL. Lorenzo Neal was the last good Chargers FB, and that was quite awhile back. They were primarily a lead blocker. Nowadays they’re sometimes used in short yardage situations, but not as regular lead blockers. I’m not sure why they’re still on Chargers rosters, but they are.

the chargers invested a late 7th rounder on Horvath, 7th round picks are not usually thought of as higher picks, they get cut in year one every single year around the league by teams...Horvath already got a "pass" year in which he did very little to justify his roster spot...
If you look art Horvath as another running back on the roster, which is actually what he is, a big slow running back, if you look at it that way, then no one in their right mind is going to cut Dotson to keep Horvath...if he wasn't listed as a fullback this wouldn't even be a conversation...
