Stick signed a vet minimum deal at the height of free agency when players have the most leverage to get multiple teams to bid for their services...
That's so unfair to Stick as a player. He joins a team with Rivers running the show. Then the team drafts potentially a generational talent at QB. There's no denying he can play. You don't lose just 3 game in your entire college career by sucking. It just might not be at the NFL level. Who knows because he hasn't been able to get on the field.

He must be good enough keep around. So he's doing things well in practice otherwise I think the coaching staff would have seen his shortcomings and cut him . Remember? Coaching and practice? They see him 90% more that you or I do. They see and hear him in the QB room. So I will side with the experts here. Stick is a non issue regarding the Chargers IMO.

My question is more toward Duggan. Did any of his play or something earn him zero playing time in preseason. I just found that a bit odd to not even give him a quarter of football.

This goes back to Johnny meddling with the personnel decisions, it wouldn't surprise me if he personally scouted Horvath at Purdue much like he said he did with Easton on that interview, UGH...it's hard enough for coaches and GMs to build winning teams and contend against other organizations for a title without having that giant fucking albatross around their collective necks...
Hrovath is the only FB on the roster, is a very good ST player and there was never a question on him making the roster.

The jury is still out on Dotson but if he doesn't make the roster I suspect he ends up on our practice squad.

Spanos commented about scouting Kellen Moore when he was in college, not Stick. Since his role at that time was Director of College Scouting, it would be natural for him to scout Moore.

Your question towards Duggan, if his play or something earned him zero play time? Answer to that is Johnny Spanos. Can't mess with his professional way of scouting out tallent...last night was evident..He almost broke his arm patting himself on the back.

I don’t care for ownership either, but as NFL fans we’re hardly in the minority. And let’s be fair, Charger drafts HAVE been trending upwards the last couple years. This year’s class could be one of their best ever. Whether that’s John Spanos backing off or not we can’t possibly know for certain. But the larger point is that they are trending in the right direction.

As for Horvath, hear me out - he was a fine special teamer as a rook, garnering a 71.7 Pff grade. He also showed some promise as a run blocker (60.1 pff), especially considering it was not his role at Purdue. According to Brett Kollman, the NFL is using fullbacks again. Admittedly I haven’t paid too much attention to this trend, but I do respect his opinion. Also consider that they don’t really have a reliable inline/Y TE. McKitty hasn’t shown much (yes, that was a poor draft decision) and Parham hasn’t proven he can stay healthy. Everett is a very good move TE (honestly very excited to see how Kellen can unlock his considerable athleticism), but not much of a run blocker. So if Horvath keeps improving, he could prove to be a valuable blocking asset to this offense. He’s also the only “bruiser” type back on the team. That’s not bad for a 7th rounder. I do hope they can find a way to keep Dotson, but Horvath does seem to have a lot more value than it may appear.

Maybe he did, but I didn't hear Horvath's name called at all...sure heard a lot about Mullen, though...

My problem with Horvath is that the Bolts hardly used him at all last year...if yer gonna have someone on the roster, at least use him, for crying out loud...

No, I think Duggan was Moores choice. Apparently the system at TCU, Moore was familiar with it and so he figured Duggan would pick up on his system pretty fast from what I read. There were some similarities.

Ah but that was Lombo’s incredibly flawed O he was/wasn’t in. Let’s see how the new guy wants to use him, if at all. Last year = Mulligan.

Ah, yes...so Lombozo had a FB he hardly used, and had wideouts who could stretch the field, but hardly used them either...yep, true dat...
