I saw no reason not to expect more Spiller in the reg season. He’s our biggest strongest RB and he’s got some nice jumps and jukes of his own. He compliments Ekeler, Dotson just replicates Ekeler. Spiller ran very well in PS and coaches know better than to place too much evaluation on a breakaway play that involves both good execution by all 11 players (not just the RB) and some luck in having a defensive breakdown. Spiller is not an afterthought for them, is my opinion.

I’d be surprised if they have Dotson active unless one of the other RBs is injured. Maybe he is a ST demon and gets active for that. It’s good they protect him on the 53, because the Day Of The Dotson will arrive. just not that soon.

Or not - we guess a lot around here

Can you protect a certain number of practice square players?

My understanding is at the beginning of game week (Tueday), the team can designate 4 players that can't be poached. After the game that designation goes away, then they go through that again on the next Tuesday. I think any player (except Okoye) can be elevated from the PS, so protecting isn't necessarily a clue on who will be elevated.

I;ll look up the details, but its not like they can lock down players for the entire season. The only one might be Okoye, who is on the IPP exemption, but he can't be elevated unless he becomes a regular PS member.

Yes. I think that goes week to week. And also you can call them up a certain number of times without signing them to the active roster and waiving some one. I like the way the NFL has modified the practice squad.

Right, the limitation is that they can be elevated 2x before they need to sign a contract to the 53 man squad.

              Edit... 3x.

                  That's the point to keeping him for (hopefully) quality depth . . . . . . . . . . . . . because RB's are exposed (and prone) to injuries. I'm willing to bet there will be more than1 time this year where we'll be saying 'boy I'm glad we kept him' . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Not doubting that. I'm sure we may have an injury at RB. Hopefully not but we may have 1 or 2.

My reply is to Topcat who thinks he will be active every week and get a couple touches every game.

If we have no RB injuries, he won't be active is my point. He isn't in Ekelers league right now and surely isn't a lock to be starting in 2024 either.

We will draft a RB if we lose Ek and Kelly. But I am excited to see what he can do when he gets in a game against the #1s. Hopefully he shows well. I'm not gonna hope for failure for anyone.

Understood . . . . . . . . . . . it'll be interesting to see if he's improved his teams performance enough to be active on game day. If not - as you say he'll likely not be active (until needed).

Good gig either way for the kid - major difference between game day checks and practice squad pay.

Exactly what the opposing DC is saying!^

Moore with no leash will confuse the crap outta defenses.

Allen + Williams + Palmer + Johnston + Everette + Eckler in the passing game threatening the head

Then a downhill rushing scheme with our o-line creating holes and our revamped RB rotation threatening the body.

You don't know where the haymaker or uppercut will come from until its too late.

It may be that Dot will be inactive the first few games...but maybe not...but sooner or later, I'm guessing the Bolts activate him and start giving him touches...and as Dot dashes for big gainers, Dot gets more touches...and more...until by the end of the season he's an integral asset in our O...
