Great news. He better play to the contract, though! One less guy on a contract year.

You typically don't worry so much with guys who are playing at a high level throughout the contract. Even his second year, his down year, his stats were pretty good, and he attracted a lot of defensive attention.

The guys you worry (more) about are the ones who only play at a high level during a contract year. THey are the ones you worry are only motivated by money. THey are the ones that fall on their faces once they feel like they have made it. It can happen to the other guys, but they usually get motivated by more than just money.

I hope I'm wrong, but I say an extension is a bad move. Dude gets hurt too much. Now he's got less reason to bust his ass to rehab from injuries. The only guy on our team I'd risk long term money on is Rivers.

Sweet. And yes, he'll get hurt again because he plays hard.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

We've had bad signings in the past but at some point you've got to keep your best talent if you want to get off the treadmill of mediocrity.

This is a great extension for a guy that produces and leaves it all on the field. When he's gotten injured it's been due to him going all out. Last year's injury came from making a spectacular and fearless catch.

I'll take guys like this each and every day and twice on Sunday over stiffs like Donald Butler who was perfectly healthy his final year here.
