When you put it that way it's even stupider than I thought. Minneapolis has no drought compared to San Diego and Buffalo.

It was the only way to put Cleveland at #1 even with their NFL Championship coming a year after our AFL title.

Buffalo and San Diego only have AFL Championships and at least 2 major sports franchises. Jacksonville and Nashville and Tampa and Oklahoma City have nothing I don't think

I agree, he essentially had to create a new statistic that really is an invalid one - you're talking about summing up seasons between cities where some have more teams than others. And his story is already being used as a reference by other equally intellectually lazy "journalists". It would've been much easier to simply state that San Diego has the longest pro franchise championship drought, but he wouldn't be able to come up with this angle so he invented this "statistic".

As for national championships, I have them with the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Colts and Maryland Terps. They're fun to have, but overrated.
