Quarterbacks watch film. Herbert watched film. Philly got molliwapped by the Jets because Hurts tried to play Hero ball throwing the ball over all over the field to jets Cornerbacks.
Herbert wasn’t doing that. He saw that and just ran the football. Controlled throws. Limit thier big plays.
and then when he had to make those throws to move drives he did to Allen and Quentin Johnston.

Bengals are a good team but the Texans are feeling their oats. Could be a close game, closer than what we think. I pick the Texans by three. Burrow can be rattled and the thing the Bengals don't want to do is look past this game, disrespect the Texans.Originally posted by TexanBeerlover View Post
Eagles - depth & balance. Just keep adding key pieces even this past trade deadline & nobody can stop that push!
Ravens - defense, offense is starting to gel which is a scary thing.
Chiefs - down but not out, still the champs last time I checked,
Bengals - will have better idea just how good they are after facing a young Texan team with comparable QB in CJ Stroud.
Dolphins - Just not sold on Tua, too often breaks down under pressure,

I agree with you.. the offense played good enough to win. Herbert played within himself considering the circumstances. A dub is a dub.Originally posted by richpjr View Post
I'm sorry that you cannot see that the Jets have an elite defense that shut down elite offenses like the Bills, Chiefs and Eagles in addition to us but it's the truth.
The Bills and Eagles lost because of the turnovers forced by the D and the Chiefs hung on for a 3 point win. Nobody thinks our O played well, but they didn't turn it over (like the 8 turnovers the elite O's did) and did enough to beat the Jets.

Chargers are 8th in the league in points per game. All games. I don't get your incessant carping on a 21 point victory. The offense scored 20 points against a tremendous defense and you're, what exactly, projecting this perceived deficiency out to the ends of the universe? why? for what? The Jets have given up more than 27 points only once all year but you find the Chargers performance to be horrible. They do this to pretty much all teams, they had one face plant against the 'Boys but every other game their defense has done like this.Originally posted by charger1_sj View Post
They didn't need to because our defense took care of business. I'm sorry if you cannot see it but it's the truth.
We cannot have another offensive outing like this against good defenses and expect to make the POs.
we get your point.

some folks cant enjoy the victory it seems
I noticed the change in press man from the 2nd half of the Chiefs game. Since then our def has been shudown. It is what we all wanted last season and now we have it. MDavis is excelling at press man, but i still see Zont in some zone cushions but since he is a ballhawk its working.
Chargers getting confident and that its the best quality to have. The NFL is the most balanced league I have ever watched which includes NRL, AFL, EPL, La Liga, Super Rugby. These players are so close in terms of ability that its the team playing with confidence and swagger that shows out.
Momentum is a real occurence in the NFL and the Chargers have it looking for more.

I remember last year's home game vs. Miami, where the Chargers defeated the Dolphins in a prime time game.
That game? It was obvious that the Bolts had a SOLID game plan, and they executed it almost flawlessly.
I had that same feeling about yesterday's game vs. the Jets. The Bolts' offense played conservatively by DESIGN, and that was instrumental in winning the turnover battle. A couple of intercepted Herbert passes, and the game could have been completely different.
BTW-- before yesterday's game, when was the most recent time the Bolts' defense held an opponent without a TD?

Offense still scored 20 points to make it easier on the defense. Imagine if the offense only got FGs instead of the two TDs and gave up easy turnovers to the Jets defense and the game was tighter than it should be. It makes it easier for our defense to tee off on an offense when there’s a bigger score gap.Originally posted by jamrock View Post
Defense and ST won the game for us. Offense didn’t screw up their good fortune

Look, I get it, the Offense was like watching paint dry. But at the end of the day, if we get into the playoffs by 1 game then that game helped. You should always strive for improvement otherwise you'll be going backwards, but I'm not going to be mad about getting a W by any means necessary.
