I never said winning was boring. The reason why I say he’s boring is because there doesn’t seem to be any creativity with the speed players he has. And he doesn’t seem to design certain plays to get the ball into the hands of players like QJ, DD or Everett. Use routes that QJ is comfortable with to ease him into the game plan and get Herbert comfortable with him. Use DD and his speed deep to open the middle of the field to get the ball to Everett or QJ. Or throw it deep to him.
Winning is never boring but play calling can be and has been.

I think last night was a game that a smart coach is patient, sits back and lets happen, a game where all you have to do to win is not beat yourself by fucking it up. Other games, I’m with you to a degree. I don’t find many other teams a heck of a lot different. I think the problem has been Herbert isn’t getting time in the pocket. Running him around may save him on a play or so but thats not solving the problem. I saw a stat he was pressured on over 60% of the pass plays last night, which aligns with my take on the game. Blaming Herbert for not finding 3rd and 4th reads or not make perfect passes when he doesn’t even have time for the first read to get out of the first break is just not paying attention to what the issue is imo. Our OL is just not protecting like we expected or need them to. The answer is quick dumps, screens, misdirections, max protect by taking guys out of routes to stay in and block. all of that is “boring” but the alternative is sacks and fumbles and interceptions and QB injury and oh my … everyone wants super-offense shit, drive for a TD every time they touch it. Well, no team does that, no team can. The defenses are also professionals. Status quo standoff is no gain, offenses have to beat the defense to move.

It’s been more frustrating for me to watch Moore not protect Herbert in the final minutes of a game by doing those “boring” things and instead let Herbie get crushed under an instant blitz. Moore let that happen in 3 of the 4 losses, watching it happen not just one play but 2 and 3 plays in a row, in all 3 games.

we ONLY had 2 games this season that Chargwers actually deserved to win based on how we played or coached..... the last 2 games....
the other 2 wins, against Vikes and raiders, we should have lost due to coaching stupidity, and we only won because the raiders had a rookie low pick QB playing for first time.... and vikes lost only because cousins rushed a play that did not need to be rushed..... and ball popped up into the air and was picked.... which was a fluke.....

I’d argue we should have won by more. I’d further argue 3 of the 4 losses we could have won if JCJ wasn’t getting torched or if they got some fucking blocking from the OL in the 4th quarter and we really should be 6-2 not 4-4.

How about the Tennessee game? Things went against us and the Chargers lost.

Using that logic, we should have beaten the Dolphins if JC didn’t try to run it out of the end zone, and beaten the Titans on that last drive scoring a TD instead of kicking a FG if Pipkins had held up his pass protection.

The secondary should practice the scramble drill over and over until they’re sick of it. There’s too much confusion and lack of situational awareness and communication between them.

Herbert should play like Alex Smith. Take your dropback and make 1 read, if that first read isn't open immediately then take off and run. It took a while but Smith morphed into an effective QB doing exactly that. Herbert hurts himself trying to stay in the pocket going through all his reads and it just leads to negative plays. He needs to be rushing for ~40+ yds a game for this to be an effective offense

What a great time !!! My son was so excited.

Chargers defense showed up last night and played great. Eckler was absolutely beside himself, pacing the sidelines with all those drop passes. Jets fans were way better than I thought. I told my son they are defeated after years of suffering. Chargers fans are just the best in the world. Keenan Allens catch was god like. Stadium was nice. But seemed kind of cold feeling with metal like coloring inside. If AI or the Borg built one it would look like this. Driving in the New York skyline was awesome. Huge skyscrapers sticking up in the skyline. The road outside our hotel had signs for the Lincoln Tunnel. I would not do the NFL Tailgate again. 65 per ticket. Long line for average food. Cans of beer but you could have two at a time. If they had soda I didn’t see it. Talking to Chargers fans was the best part of it. My son just bought a 43 Michael Davis jersey. People asked him if it was Sproles and pissed him off. Lol. I saw a Lance Alworth jersey and thought that was way cool. A tremendous game and let’s keep the wins going!!! Love Freak
