What you think you know and what have been proven are two different things. Gates failed a drug test on record, Lewis did not those are the facts. Also you know dang well I'm talking about Ladainian Tomlinson. Lawrence Taylor did all kinds of drugs. Taylor was first ballot but may have gotten the benefit of the doubt because of the SB wins and being a league MVP as a defensive player which had never been done before when he won the award and no one has duplicated it since. Taylor inarguably a top 20 NFL player of all time. Gates will not sniff that list. Kelce has a higher chance of making that list than Gates ever will and that's facts.

Gates also got popped for failing a drug test which hurt his team when he was suspended for games that year. I don't recall any first ballot guys with failed drug tests on their records. LT never failed any drug tests and he was first ballot. Y'all can defend Gates all you want but those are the facts. You get caught using illegal drugs you can be punished for it not only is it bad for your health but it's against the law. Performance enhancing drugs are illegal for a reason. You get caught there are consequences for that he should be held accountable just like anyone else doesn't matter if he is a multi millionaire or not.

The NFL is a lot like life it isn't fair but I hear what you are saying. The league has and will have exceptions when it comes to players that have multiple titles and have been the faces of the league for years. Gates doesn't fit into that criteria and it isn't fair but that's how it is.

I did take offense with the rookie comment because just because I'm new to these boards doesn't mean I don't know jack ish about the Chargers. I just havent felt inspired to be on the boards since Marty was coach because I haven't liked the direction of the team since those years. Harbaugh being made coach is the most optimistic I've been feeling about this team in a long while.
