We will also have to see what happens with Butler and Thomas as both are in their last year of their contract. And next year will be the last year of Luiget's contract and he is another one who is going to reap a big payday when he gets his next contract.
As a first RD pick does the team not have an option for next year with Luiget?

It doesn't appear to be the case:

I suppose one could say we have an option to save $750K by cutting him...

Any news on OLinemen waver wire pickups?
Still think this area needs addressed with some sort of urgency!

is there no more Restricted FA? If yes, these guys don't simply walk away to the highest bidder the second their rookie contract ends. TT puts a tender on them and work from there.

We should. His salary would be the average of the top 25 D lineman.

By the time we have to resign him we are in a much better cap position. Meacham and Gaither off the off the books in '15.

With the new CBA, all teams have the option of getting a 5th year from 1st rounders. If a player is a top 10 player, the team pays an average of the top 10 players in the league. 10-32 the teams pay an average of the top 25.

I believe that one has to have three or fewer accrued seasons to qualify as a RFA.

                      Q. What is the difference between a Restricted Free Agent and an Unrestricted Free Agent?

                      A. In the 2013 League Year, players with three Accrued Seasons become Restricted Free Agents when their contracts expire at the conclusion of the 2012 League Year. Unrestricted Free Agents have completed four or more Accrued Seasons. An Unrestricted Free Agent is free to sign with any club with no draft choice compensation owed to his old club.

                      Q. What constitutes an "Accrued Season"?

                      A. Six or more regular-season games on a club's active/inactive, reserved/injured or reserve/physically unable to perform lists.

so Liuget has 3 years after this season and is RFA then. no worries.

He has 3 years after this season and then his 4th season under contract. If what I posted is the official rule (got it off NFL.com) then he becomes a UFA at the end of his contract. Like Butler he will be cheaper to sign early rather than letting him finish out his contract.
