oof... Dreamius Smith . That leaves Gordon, Woodhead, Farrow, and Gus Johnson. Swain is a FB/RB/HB that could fit in that 5th spot, with Derek Watt as the designated FB. I hope the waiver wire will have some good 'treasure'.

Swain may be an option as a "power" back, and can play backup FB.

Remember, the FB at Navy isn't the lead blocker like in most systems... he's the first read in the triple option. Swain carried the ball. Alot.

Someone mentioned Knighton - and I mentioned Kruger - in another thread (or earlier in this thread). Both names appeared in an article I read this morning. Sanchez, and that RB from the Cardinals (forget his name) that others have suggested, were also thrown out there. Sure...why not all four? Seriously. What's there to lose at this point? It's not like we're overloaded with talent and, especially, depth. And I don't imagine any/all of those guys would break the bank.

I want to change the subject from abuse (it's definitely no joke) back to cuts and waiver pickups for a minute. While I think relying on the final roster cuts - after getting down to 53 - for patching up our team holes is sort of a sad way to address needs, it might not be as bad as it is usually due to where we are in this years waivers (third). It's been a while since we're been as high as third. We could end up with some decent players after the last cuts. And we sure can use them. Running back depth is an obvious need. Might need at least one more TE. Not sure how our TE depth has performed this preseason. I haven't noticed them FWIW. The d-line and o-line could always be upgraded. That's a fact. I'll stay away from backup QB help. Berco has a flow about him. He looks like a QB when he plays. Sure he made some poor throws but he's young. I like how he looks running and throwing and he has some composure when men are in his face. I like that. Anyhow, maybe we can come away with some players this time after final cuts.
