My other team, Navy, also dodged the loss at the end of the game when UConn ran the ball with no timeouts from inside the 5, and Navy stuffed them. Long day, two cardiac cases. Both Navy and SDSU should have won easily, but untimely turnovers made it too damn close.

Happy for the win but they got extremely lucky to pull off the victory.

So now next week is the biggest game in the history of the program.

In its only game against a Power 5 opponent in the regular season, the San Diego State Aztecs made a huge statement with a 45-40 win over California. It was very much the Donnel Pumphrey show, as SDSU's running back surpassed Marshall Faulk to become the school's all-time rushing leader (4,651 yards). Pumphrey gutted the California defense for 281 rushing yards and three touchdowns (the fifth best rushing performance in school history) while the Aztecs turned three Cal turnovers into 21 points. The Bears, who have given up more than 600 yards on the ground in their first two games, host Texas next week. Cal made it interesting late, recovering an onside kick with less than a minute to play and a chance to pull out a win. But SDSU's Damontae Kazee intercepted Cal's Davis Webb (5TDs, 3ints) with nine seconds left.Last edited by KNSD; 09-11-2016, 12:37 AM.Prediction:
Correct: Chargers CI fails miserably.
Fail: Team stays in San Diego until their lease runs out in 2020. (without getting new deal done by then) .
Sig Bet WIN: The Chargers will file for relocation on January 15.

This is how I see this game and the Aztecs as a whole...
The Aztecs are a shit team. Let me explain - They play triple shit level teams throughout their schedule every year. Now, the Aztecs being merely a one shit team, can still beat triple shit teams like the ones in their conference. So when the Aztecs have to face an honest opponent - but nothing great - in Cal they can only play like shit. Because that's all they know. What does shit level football look like against another shit level team? Pretty much what you saw last night. The Aztecs did one thing well - ran the ball - and everything else they struggled at. Maybe ST's were good.
Basically, the Aztecs will always be at shit level until they play better opponents throughout the year. They won't reach their potential if they're not pushed by their competition. That's one good thing about last night. They got exposed. We'll see how they respond. Right now it's still a shit team IMO. But it's kind of not their fault. For Stinky-Jon-Wizzleteats....

Aztecs aren't supposed to beat the top tier NCAA football teams. They don't have the resources to do so. The mere fact that they can beat Cal which has 10x their budget is a pretty impressive feat. Cal had the better natural athletes, but (other than WR/QB) the Aztecs have better coaching staff and better football players.Prediction:
