2 WRs I can see them waiting to draft in the 2nd even though different play styles but similar speed.

Roman Wilson- Familiarity, speed, route running, hands, blocking and great separation.

Xavier Legette- Big, physical, speed, hands, blocking. I wonder if Coach Sanjay will have a say in drafting him since he is similar to DK Metcalf. A couple inches shorter but just as heavy and fast. I think he needs work with route running.

My 2 favorite WRs outside the first round. Wilson is a premium separator and Legette is a big, fast beast that oozes potential. Would be happy with either one at 37 if we went OT and CB in the first round in the trade down scenario.

The Chargers started with KA, JP, and MW as intended starters last year. The contracts of KA and MW were not sustainable long-term. I think JP was drafted as an eventual replacement for KA... and QJ was drafted as a potential replacement for MW. Both were vastly under-utilized last year.

Now, with both KA and MW gone, is the time to develop both within the Harbaugh/Roman offensive scheme.
The 21-personnel will be heavily used this year. That means a large dosage of 2-WR sets.
Drafting a Top-3 WR means putting either JP or QJ on the bench and giving up on the develop of two of their young players.
I think the plan is to draft a player to play behind JP (mid round) and pick up a relatively cheap WR (post-draft cuts) to mentor QJ.

Agree that was the thought process of TT/Staley. Palmer is going into his 4th year now so he should be developed. He's just not shifty like KA and you can't teach that so he'll likely not be able to replace KA as a go to guy on 3rd down. As for QJ, IIRC the knock on him was his hands and that proved out. He seemed to have trouble tracking Herbert's longer passes and the way he batted around some (GB and NE) made him look somewhat uncoordinated. He needs the ball right in his gut. He's not gonna be the MW that we saw go up and make 50/50 balls, 80/20 balls. Again, some things you might not be able to teach. So we have 2 lesser replacements and neither is the explosive guy everyone yearned for the past few years.

Improving line play through the draft is what I would like to see. If we can do the early, I wouldn’t mind using the rest of the draft on defense. Tell me who was the highly recruited players on that that Michigan team? Not all dogs are measured and tracked as top elite players, but you you need to fill the roster with players who are willing to go there with the little bit of dog they have in them.

That’s why we are all excited, well, I get excited every off season. With all the offensive players filling the top of the draft boards, we need to look at all the talent falling on the defensive side. I can’t wait…

Rather just trade up a couple spots and take Odunze. He’s practically as fast and a better overall WR.

Thomas at 11 is just waaay too high. Sam Monson thinks so. I disagree. About #17 overall IMV and our best chance at a prospect with this elite of a size/speed combo.

I bit the bullet and did a great compromise.
Two starters at positions of such need and impact suits this draftnik.
The key point is that BTJ is a willing blocker to go with being a king sized deep threat.
With Latham, we get a huge ORT who is both fundamentally sound in Pass Pro and moves people in the run game.
On to other needs.
