Harris looks like another Devonte Adams.

His 5 drops in 2024 rank 65th among receivers. So there are 64 receivers worse than him. Of even more concern to me is the high number of incompletions, especially on sideline routes. The majority of QJ's completions are on crossers and slants. Get QJ out into space, and he is tough to defend, and gets some nice YAC. However, on contested catches, that's where his glaring weakness is. As he is, I think he's a bit one dimensional...I'd like to see him expand his effective route tree with separation and a higher completion percentage.

Good coaches will only use him where he is effective. So stop using him on stuff he does poorly.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
          Letโ€™s win one for Mack.

Unfortunately, last year they were forced to use him where this year they hopefully shouldn't have to.

I think QJ's problem is that he is limited in the things he does well.

That will be an issue for him in a much deeper WR room with players who bring more varied skill sets (KLS) and players who bring what the Chargers need most to create space for Ladd ( Harris and Williams at X )

All 3 of the new WRs ....Williams, KLS, Harris also catch the football better and are much better at contested catches than QJ

Ask any true Ravens fans, 2 important and specific traits for WRs in a bully-ball offense.
Gro is specifically looking for these and our scouts did a fine job.

Huh. I see what you mean. They both excel on the same kinds of routes, and at the contested catch, although I think Adams has 10 pounds on Harris, and is the more physical, tougher to bring down receiver.

News of the day around the NFL

Gabe Davis released by the Jaguars - if signed, probably would be for the vet minimum since the Jags already guaranteed his salary

Goeddert is going back to the Eagles -- they restructured his deal. So he probably took a pay cut to go back. Nobody was trading for him

Pickens to the Cowboys -- looks like a 2026 3rd to the Cowboys plus smaller picks between the Steelers and Cowboys
Steelers are getting a lot of picks for the 2026 draft. If they are serious, they should trade Watt and tank hard this year

Yes Iโ€™m glad you see that. Iโ€™m talking about Adamโ€™s at Fresno State. Harris will get stronger. Both were second round picks. I think heโ€™s a great route runner like Adams. They have the great skill of planting and cutting making that juke move to get open. Not every player can do that. Jeffersonโ€™s great at that. Justin Jefferson is great at that.

I like his hands. Those are traits that I see as a pro bowl receiver. I think the Chargers got a player who might be better than Matthew Golden as an overall prospect. Itโ€™s a great draft pick.
