I blame the NFLPA - they continue to allow the owners to create these contracts that truly give the owner leverage

All four of the players - MW, Allen, Bosa and Mack - are essentially free agents that the Chargers have right of first refusal on. None of their money is guaranteed at this point. In the NBA and MLB, that would be different

As for Bosa - his right to maximize value and money. I do not blame him for taking the contract and maximizing his revenue

But based on the rules of the CBA in the NFL - the Chargers can move on from that contract and are doing something other teams do as well.

In fact, I think on like February 12 - the day after the Super Bowl - you can start releasing players. This decision should be early in the offseason.

Just spitballing here but the Ravens have 4 CBs headed for UFA
all should be affordable to very affordable
