I like Vidal going forward. But we know how quickly they can go down, so yes we need depth that can step up or just give Vidal a break. Amar Johnson and Hines are Chargers. Get them more snaps in practice.Haskins is reliable in short yardage and pass pro. I'm not against a cheap reliable upgrade from outside. Hampton is returning at some point and potentially Najee next year. I'd keep that in mind.Originally posted by richpjr View Post
I agree we need another RB. Vidal had a great game - but it was against a bad team with the worst run D in the league. He won't find the going nearly as easy going forward and what is behind him does not appear to be much.

Harris is only signed for this year so who knows if he will be ready next year or if he'll be resigned. Johnson is on the practice squad but they signed Hines off the street and elevated him over Johnson so that should tell us something about him being ready.Originally posted by sonorajim View Post

I would not be opposed to upgrading the OL if they could find an interior starter that is worth the draft pick. But the IOL they started yesterday, as scrubby as it was, was not a complete disaster. And it looks like they may have the full OL starting lineup back together again.Originally posted by Topcat View Post
Mr. Mayor, I concur with your assessment...however...I STILL think we're thin at O-line...but the only issue is that there don't appear to be any O linemen we could trade for...so this means we absolutely MUST go O-line EARLY in the next draft...I want C, T and G ALL in the first five rounds...
But RB is more urgent IMO, because if they lose Vidal to an injury they are fooked. And I think they can get a quality RB for a relatively low draft pick. I outlined why I think Breece Hall could be had for a reasonable draft pick, but also there is Alvin Kamara, who could probably be had for a low-end 3rd day pick.

I think all 5 oline that started yesterday played 100%of the snaps. I think they need more of that to build some kind of consistency. They just need to be serviceable, and the D needs to tighten up until they start getting guys back healthy.Originally posted by Velo View Post

2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). We complained about not going after Brandon Sheriff. He told teams he didnt want to play any longer. Wondered about zadarius smith and not signing him. He just retired on the eagles mid season. Sometimes there are good reasons Hortiz does what he does and doesn’t do what he doesn’t.Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

I would've been OK with drafting an RB late on Day 2. (In hindsight Jacory Croskey-Merrit looks like a better choice than Branson Taylor.) But they had signed Najee Harris and used their 1st rnd pick on Hampton, they had Vidal from the previous draft, plus re-signing Dobbins was also a real possibility. I could not see drafting another RB in rnds 2-5.Originally posted by gzubeck View Post

We kind of did by spending the most UFA money on Rocket Sanders who was expected to be a 5th or 6th round pick but dropped because if insane RB depth. JCM went in 7th, as did Kyle Monangi and Brashard SmithOriginally posted by gzubeck View Post

My point being we kind of did do the equivalent of drafting a 2nd RB late.
