Well, I think you can scheme around it, and we have proof with Steichen running the offense in Herbert's rookie year. Truth be told, we'd have won one or both of these two losses with Steichen at OC right now. With Roman, the ingredients on the OLine aren't there for this scheme to be effective. He needs the early 90s Cowboys OLine and/or a dual-threat QB to make it work.

Looking at some of the early posts in this thread...man, we were naive and full of stupid hope.

"Can’t imagine the plan is to make a $50M Qb throw like 20 passes a game"

And we get 3 years of this shit...ugh.

Fact is we need better o line play and players. That is the key to running Roman's offense and keeping Herbert healthy.Simple.This IS a rebuilding year no matter what anyone says.Next year and the year after I think we will truly see Harbaughs vision come to life.

i think it is a refunding year. like as in our coffers will be a lot more next season after some big contracts are off the board. draft some more oline plus sign a couple more and problem solved for next season.

Roman cannot do that for our players-he has dialed up plays that can work.

It's up to Dobbins, Hurst, QJ, Palmer to perform.

In an effort to convince themselves and the rest of us that they are real smart about football, many have come up with embarassing posts.
not an expert just an observer for 45 years. theres enough circumstantial evidence for some forms of malpractice. i think you want to give roman a pass for this season due to injuries and inexperience of players. other coaches have to work thru these problems as well. harbaugh need to keep all his options available for oc position.

Chargers are #29 in passing yards (602)
Chargers are now #10 in rushing yards (511) after yesterday's effort.

              Not looking good!

Edit: Wrong number in rushing place

Take away JKs long runs and the run game is as bad as the pass or worse.

Teams figured us out quickly. Stack the box, force us to pass but we can't protect the QB and our WRs have a tough time getting open.

Everyone makes a big deal about bookend tackles. I would rather have an all-pro center and guard. If your tackles are junk and your middle is solid your QB can at least step up and a mobile QB can step up and flush out and still make plays. The game has always been won by the teams most solid up the middle on both sides of the ball. The media makes it all about Mahomes and Reid's playcalling which of course matters but the great play from the middle of their lines is helping sustain success.

Yeah, starting to look that way. I wonder how Nabers/Bowers and Zach Martin would have worked out.

Chargers are currently DEAD LAST in passing attempts. They are even behind the 4 teams who play tonight so have only played 3 games. LOL
