IMO, Dissly's signing doesn't rule out acquiring Bowers. The Bolts can use Dissly with OR without Bowers.

Dissly should be the team's best blocking TE since Brandon Manumaleuna.

Like Manu did, he will put you on your ASS.

He is a blocker who can be a safety valve. He can't get open against DB, but he can catch passes underneath and then he is tough to bring down. You will never put a play into the game plan with him as your first option. Lines up at FB a bit, but mostly a classic TE, who is good run and pass blocking.

Harbaugh/Roman/Hortiz shaping the offense they envision with who they signed (Dissly, Edwards) and who they did not sign (Ekeler) today.

Dissly had a pretty productive year in 2022...and THAT was with Geno Smith throwing to him:

Great pickup. This is how you surgically address deficiencies.

Harbaugh wants to run and pass more or less equally and he intends to dictate the terms. Dissley and Edwards put their teammates on notice. Get ready to play hard nosed football.

With the new regime in place, I suspect that any tight end who competes for a spot on the roster HAS to be a plus blocker, a guy who's an asset to both the run and pass phases of the offense as a blocker. I'm not saying DOMINANT, per se, (although, how could that *not* help?). But a minimum grade of B+.

Of course, somebody in the TE Room has to be able to catch the ball, but he can't be a liability as a blocker. Not anymore.

Dissly isn't (metaphorically) an engine, or a transmission, or a Fuel Injection system.

He's a wide stance, high traction steel-belted radial tire that's replacing a balding bias ply. Dissly will help make getting over the terrain easier.

He can be a good complimentary player. I had Seahawks games back when I was in Oregon. I've seen him. Dissly can catch, but he isn't a number 1 option as Steve said.
