He had his best year in 2021 playing for the Ravens which has to play into this signing since Hortiz is familiar with him.

I heard he gave up more sacks than any center in the League last year.

This makes the sting of losing Keenan a distant memory (sarcasm)

He has started 80 games in the NFL. That is more experience than Clapp.

He led the NFL in sacks allowed at Center.

probably the worst Hortiz move so far albeit low risk low reward move.

Agree that the stats aren't impressive but I see it more as a scheme fit. He's a better run blocker than pass blocker so if this really is going to be downhill power run team they are assuming play action buys him the edge in pass pro. This is our bridge to the future so they still need to invest in a center in the draft. Assuming we trade down I could definitely pick 3 being whomever is left between JPJ(not likely), Frazier or Barton.

Bet his QB held the ball longer than any other QB in the league.

Not an obvious fact. The 5-10 rookie QB may have had trouble finding open passing lanes. Starting OGs coming off injuries. not all about C.Help LG, lose on the right, etc.

Agree. Hortiz scouted him for the draft and he played for Roman. They know who he is.

                        Clapp / Jaimus sets the bar pretty low . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . no way he can be worse. As others have said we still need to draft our center of the future this year . . . . . . . . . . .
