I think a more impactful target, if the Browns are tanking in a lost season, would b David Njoku...a real pass catching weapon at TE. I think he is only owed 1.2 million on his contract for the rest of the season. Would take more than a day 3 pick though I suspect and I am not sure Hortiz will give up a draft asset like that.
I like Njoku, but as I understand it, he's not a 'plus blocker'. I have the feeling that Joe Hortiz will exert a strong bias toward TEs who contribute as blockers, particularly if there's draft capital involved in the acquisition.

No list of bad Charger coaches is complete without Harlan Savare.

LOL...After 4 stinker seasons with the Rams, what were the Bolts thinking when they hired Svare, only to lead them to 3 more stinker seasons:

        image.png
        22 - TE Mason Taylor
        55 - RB Quinshon Judkins
        86 - DL Josiah Stewart
        125 - G Dylan Fairchild
        158 - C Jake Majors
        181 - WR Donte Thornton

          Ron Waller 1973 1-5 .166
          Kevin Gilbride 1997-98 6-16 .272
          June Jones 1998 3-7 .300
          Mike Riley 1999- 2001 9-23 .281

Svare was a contender for worst but he wasn't.
Waller just finished Svare's season so Gilbride is the winning loser!

Which is why signing Hayden Hurst was a puzzle. Hurst is a notoriously bad blocking TE. All his potential was a receiver, but he has disappeared.

I would remove June Jones. He very RELUCTANTLY took the interim job when Spanos fired Gilbride in 1998. The Chargers were an absolute dumpster fire (Ryan Leaf), but the Spanoses per$uaded him to take the job because there was nobody else. I read at the time that the Spanoses offered him the permanent job after the season, but he didn't want it, he fled to the islands to coach Hawaii. I'm just saying it's not fair to saddle him with the designation of a worst coach given the circumstances. He inherited a mess mid-season and probably should be commended for winning 3 games. Harbaugh joined the Chargers the next season.

I’d be ok with taking Mike Williams back, but the deal would have to be extremely one sided. Like a swap of 7th rounders with the Jets paying half of his remaining contract.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                Let’s win one for Mack.

I go back and forth on MW. Who would you rather have on the WR depth chart - Fehoko or Rice or Mike Dub? I want to "embrace the WR youth movement," but Herbert losing both WRs of a duo that was one of the best in the league was maybe too much. Having one of them return might really help the passing game. My biggest reservation with Mike is how well can he run right now with his recent knee surgery?

All valid concerns. Which is why I wouldn’t pay a lot to get him here. He could help us a lot, or maybe not.

IMO the person who has had the biggest impact on this team is not named Jim, his name is Jesse.

The Chargers' defense was a dumpster fire the entire four years of the Staley era. In one season, Minter has turned this D into an elite unit, leading the league in pts allowed.

He has resurrected the careers of players like Fulton and Molden and he has a pair of day 3 rookie QBs playing well.

This defense is so well prepared, they know exactly what the opposing offense is doing.

Everybody knows their role. It is playing above the skill level of its collective players.

Under Staley the run defense was a constant embarrassment throughout his tenure. One season later, Minter's run defense is #6 overall, averaging fewer than 100 yds per game, better than the 49ers currently.

I hope we get Minter for one more season after this season before he is poached for a HC job.

The bottom of the WR depth chart isn't contributing much. Fehoko did have a nice catch in Denver, and looked Mike Williams-ish doing so. Rice hasn't even played a down I don't think, and has been active in two games? I'd prefer MW on the roster than either of these two.

Completely agree. Minter is awesome. Organization MVP addition maybe, but we have a few. Hortiz, Harbaugh....players Fulton, Dobbins, Ford
