Ron Waller 1973 1-5 .166
Kevin Gilbride 1997-98 6-16 .272
June Jones 1998 3-7 .300
Mike Riley 1999- 2001 9-23 .281
Svare was a contender for worst but he wasn't.
Waller just finished Svare's season so Gilbride is the winning loser!

Having one of them return might really help the passing game. My biggest reservation with Mike is how well can he run right now with his recent knee surgery? Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.

IMO the person who has had the biggest impact on this team is not named Jim, his name is Jesse.
The Chargers' defense was a dumpster fire the entire four years of the Staley era. In one season, Minter has turned this D into an elite unit, leading the league in pts allowed.
He has resurrected the careers of players like Fulton and Molden and he has a pair of day 3 rookie QBs playing well.
This defense is so well prepared, they know exactly what the opposing offense is doing.
Everybody knows their role. It is playing above the skill level of its collective players.
Under Staley the run defense was a constant embarrassment throughout his tenure. One season later, Minter's run defense is #6 overall, averaging fewer than 100 yds per game, better than the 49ers currently.
I hope we get Minter for one more season after this season before he is poached for a HC job.
