It's a slippery slope and can be addictive like crack oncee teams start the restructure/void year game, so gotta be highly disciplined, but in moderation, I'm ok w/it.

So after all my feigned outrage...we agree on the general principle.

Now then...if we are talking extending Derwin for three extra years...I might have to part company again.
I'm indifferent if Hortiz does some simple restructures or not. I brought it up as an option he has if he wants to open up more cap space. The have about 30 mil they can open with a simple restructure of most Herbert and Slater. Pushing that money between both of them over the life of their contract isn't going to put them in cap hell plus they are likely going to have to restructure Herbert next year because he is going to cost around $70 mil against the cap. Might as well get some more cap space from him this year with a simple restructure this year.

Extending DJ this year just makes sense this year.
    My final Mock:

    1) Woods, Peter- DT/Clemson
    2) Pregnon, Emmanuel- OG/Oregon
    3) Moore, Derrick- EDGE/Michigan
    4) Demmings, Charlie- CB/S. F. Austin
    6) Klein, Marlin- TE/Michigan

My biggest thing with restructuring Herbert - who will it be for? What players

Somebody pointed out - I wish I could give them credit - but 32 teams all will be in the free agent market to varying degrees. Maybe not every team wants Linderbaum or McGovern - but that is just one player; other teams will want other players

I think with the cap space if they release the four players - they should be able to get what they want accomplished. Now if there is a bonus player out there, I think that is when you push on Herbert - For the record, Herbert doesn't count 70m for two years

ps. just for Nutty and any other Parker fans, thinkin' he could go off the board @28 to the Texans.... ?? also think there is a good chance Pregnon is off the board to Seattle @32, and Iheanachor to LA @29....
Based on what you have posted , I like the group at 27 way better

I don't think it's just about 1 player but adding more players not just starters but depth as well.

For discussion only, if my sig fell this way (I know it won't) during free agency wouldn't you feel better about going into the draft and then season? It's about upgrading the whole team top to bottom and not hyper focusing on one area. Just MHO.

We should have all learned this year, we don't just need any OL depth, we need OL line depth that can play, when the inevitable Charger injuries hit. No more subs like Deculus or guys off the street

Plus good GMs plan and Hortiz is a planner. You draft a good young center of the future if you like the player in a good center draft, they don't come around every year. Last year the center draft was very weak. i have a new appreciation for having a good center to anchor the offensive line after the Bozeman debacle
              Agreed 100%

I do believe the market for Linderbaum will be high but regardless if we land him or not, drafting a Center at #2 is not a controversial pick IMHO.

Lots of demand and cap space around this off season for a bidding war for Lindenbaum. But the more I think about it, I don't think the Ravens let him hit the market. i think they get him signed.

Not signing his 5th year option means nothing, it was the smart move. The formula for what that costs is not based on center pay, it is based on o line overall, which includes tackles, so that could end up costing the Ravens 25 million.

I don't know if I would call it at win because I've said the Hortiz has final say and definitely not saying is it not at fault. Both Becton and Boz were a miss. It happens. I have confidence that McD and Berry will right the ship.
Naw. Pretty sure I won big here.

(lol - its just a forum and I'm just trolling a friendly lil troll - who gives a shit, good brother - there are no wins and losses in forumland! )

I like your list of players..... great choices at both positions making the trade beneficial.

Joel Klatt thinks Chargers will fix starting OL in FA and will grab Hunter at 22 because he is a dominating NT who absolutely dominates and stuffs the run but also pushes pocket on pass plays....if he is available at 27.... all the better!

Indeed but speed sure enhances elusiveness.

Recent Lead Dolphin Backs under McDaniel

                        Raheem Mostert: 4.34
                        Achane: 4.32
                        Jaylen Wright: 4.38

How much did McDaniel value Tyreek Hill's speed?
Five draft picks in a trade, plus a $120 mil extension.

When Mike says, "Ah speed's not that important to me"
Am I gonna take that at face value?

Coaches lie. It's part of their job description.
