We know darn well that Joe Hortiz is not sentimental, unlike this board. It's a business decision. It's a football decision.

Hypothetic example: PFF Sim just let me trade #22 & QJ to NYJ for #33, #44 and #103. I got Concepcion and Pregnon. Who would not like that ? And this is before fielding crazy offers for #33, Day 2/Pick 1. Hypothetic yes. But also illustrative.

powderblueboy likes analogies. This board likes to collect "Get Out Of Jail Free" cards, as though that wins at Monopoly. There's a new sheriff in town. Joe will cook. At least TT has a radio gig.

    TRADES
CHARGERS TRADE WR QUENTIN JOHNSTON TO NYJ FOR PICK 103 (4TH)
CHARGERS TRADE 22 TO MIA FOR PICK 30 AND PICK 75 (3RD) (MIA HAVE 4 3RDS)

    DRAFT
30 WR KC CONCEPCION TEXAS A&M
    55 EDGE DERRICK MOORE MICHIGAN
75 EDGE DANI DENNIS-SUTTON PENN ST

You can bang the table all you want topcat, I just think you are setting yourself up for disappointment

Playing a full season is not nothing .... and next year is very important.

Who here will be happy with a one and done + a 3rd/4rth for QJ?

QJ is a rental who would need a new contract to stay with a team longterm. That's gonna suppress his trade value. I'd be delighted if they could get a third for him, but that might be tough to do.

I think plenty of teams, including us, will be interested if Cleveland says it is willing to trade him. The Browns may be waiting to make him available because the 2027 NFL Draft appears to be a very strong one.

My buddy Conor Orr wrote this week that the Browns should trade Myles Garrett, and, as wild as it sounds, I wholeheartedly agree with him. I actually wrote at the trade deadline that they should do it—I know they disagreed with me at that point—and my overarching reason for it remains the same as it was then.

The Browns’ timeline doesn’t really match up with Garrett’s.

If you presume the quarterback of the future isn’t on the roster right now—and that’s with all due respect to Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel—then we’re talking about it being 2027 before that guy arrives, and that guy potentially being a rookie then. On top of that, next year, they’d also be dealing with nearly $90 million in dead money assigned to the position, with the cap debt the Browns pushed forward coming due.

On the flip side, the Browns have two first-round picks, giving them three picks in the top 40 in April, which gives them a real chance to build on last year’s rock-solid class, headed by DROY Carson Schwesinger, Mason Graham, Quinshon Judkins, Harold Fannin Jr. and Dylan Sampson. If they can do that, they’ll have a nice, young core, with lean contracts, going into 2027, playing around whoever the quarterback is.

So that would mean the target for all this to really take flight would be 2028. Garrett will start that season at 32 years old and finish it at 33. And that begs the question: Is it best for everyone if Garrett is traded, the Browns grab even more capital to pour into their young core, and really lean into the rebuild, and the reigning Defensive Player of the Year can go chase a championship somewhere else?

I know the Browns’ answer, at this point, would be no, understandably.

But I think I’d lean toward saying yes.

What ever the Browns decide to do, it will be wrong. Why torture themselves?

I agree with Fleet 1 with his "bombs away" approach.

We have NO business pretending Mahomes + Kenneth Walker III will not be a problem...

              OR
              Bo Nix + Jaylen Waddle.

              OR
              Fernando Mendoza + Brock Bowers.

If we outscore them, that's a win !

                Fully agree.

Any Charger fans discounting the Chiefs and thinking they are done are deluding themselves

The AFC West is a serious division. Even the Raiders are on the right course and will be much improved. Mendoza, Bowers, Jeanty..and they are taking a top WR with 36 pick.

The Charger line up as it stands today, still needs more work to be done.

From one perspective, we are in a bit of no man's land at #22.
Also there are excellent double dip opportunities a little later...plenty of EDGE.
Bentley looks good, don't he ?

Maybe they did want a big upgrade over Q - no doubt there are better WRs in the league than Q. I don't defend his roster spot because he's best in the league, only that he's top 2 or 3 on the current Charger team.

I they replace him with better - fine with me. I am confident he'll get another job in the league. I would be worried about a bet before the draft that they will replace him with a Rd4 pick, I suspect the actual odds are below 50% = not a good bet. I don't think Jennings is better.

                    I agree about Davis.
I agree.... they are not replacing QJ with a 4th round pick.... 4th round might be a great place to find a speedy WR/PR to upgrade over Davis....

QJ is faster and better overall than Jennings but Jennings is a stud physical receiver who wins jump balls and runs over people.... he may be more consistent

                        23. KC Concepcion, WR, Texas A&M

A hiccup in a helmet and cleats, Concepcion (5-11, 200) is built a bit like a bowling ball — one that runs on race-car fuel. Extremely dangerous in open space and lightning quick off the line, Concepcion will be a creative offensive coordinator’s dream.
Concepcion is similar to Tyreek Hill.... not big but big and solid enough to actually take hits and he wins jump balls against taller defenders....
