They are flush with extra picks. And they are close to that roster they feel will win a SB. It’s now or never do go get that CB or DT they covet cause they simply can.
      Minnesota doesn't have the picks

Houston might want to move up as they need OL and have Stroud on a rookie deal

If a trade down happens, its the Bills or Houstons
Possibly Cleveland if they want QB

If Joe Hortiz *really* likes a particular receiver above all the others, I can understand that he could well go as high as the 22nd overall pick on one. But if there are several wideouts, any of which would nicely fill the Bolts' X receiver void in Joe's opinion, then most likely one of those candidates will either be available at #55, or within reach via trade up in Round 2.

In other words, unless there's a 'That Guy' wideout prospect, Joe Hortiz can focus on something other than receiver in Round 1 without missing the bus on a WR later on.

I like what he does, he watches tape, etc. But he, nor Jeremiah, nor Popper, nor Matt Money know what we are going to do,....i think we all agree on that, no? Then says we are likely one of three teams to trade up in round 1? Thats pretty specific.
I just dont take these things seriously but i know some people hear that and think it means something and maybe get excited.

Its a ill believe it when i see it type of thing. Joe really hasnt a track record yet since he has 1 draft under his belt as his own.

Weird thing i read this morning was an article in the Athletic about teams who paying any attention to mocks, how many teams , etc,... turned out about of them looks, if they are telling the truth.

Dan Morgan...Carolinas GM said he likes to play with the simulators lol. He is only a second year GM. Says he uses it to practice and what kind of scenarios can come up but .....they are all different and even if you use the same one its different every time. Last year i used to have the sure fire top QBs fall to me even after i traded down to take Bowers later.

This year ive only used NFL draft database twice and havent used any others. Have steered clear of them this year.

I just go back to the DeCosta press conference on Tuesday,. And yes, Joe Hortiz is running his own shop now but he was brought up under Ozzie with DeCosta and Kokinis and that crew
DeCosta said they have buckets of players based on grade. And if two players are close enough, they will pick NEED
If two players are in different buckets, the lower bucket is not jumping ahead of the better player just to fill Need

So if Hortiz picks IOL - its not becaues Harbaugh loves trenches - -its because he is the best player on the board in all likelihood.

I think it is unlikley and expensive to trade up in round 1, But looking at the Raven way they traded up in round 2 fairly frequently, as Hortiz did last year.

I think a trade up in round 2 is more likley, especially when you consider some of the players you would think will interest the Chargers will be gone before 55....Mason Taylor, Jayden Higgns, TreyVon Henderson etc. A trade up into the 40s I could see happening.
I try to digest all the analyses you fine members post. its fantastic, I get either smarter or more misguided by the day.

What I keep coming away with is we will have several options at 22 that will be quite good, regardless of how 1-21 go. Then we have a handful of others we'd prefer for Rd 2 but we think they will all be picked before 55. Rd 2 trade up sound logical to me, given we saw Joe do it once already and this situation seems to recommend it.

others say the draft talent is almost equal and nearly indistinguishable between 15 and 100, which would say don't give up a 3 or 4 to move up in 2. I don't actually believe that though. I think there are some borderline Rd1 players that we'd love that will be there in early Rd2 and no chance they make it to Rd3.

Yep, id agree thats the best way. So for example if we have Harmon, Loveland and Tmac all graded close, .......which one they think is the biggest need is where they go. Question is, which one of those do we think,... they think is the biggest need? Id guess they go TE but could go either way.

the only other factor and I think this played a part last year with Alt v Nabers was how does the rest of the draft shake down meaning is there depth at another position that might sway a position

And today, those three names are my ideal targetrs. I like Kenneth Grant but Harmon seems to have that pass rush ability and Bucky Brooks talked on a podcast with Jeremiah about "what defenders are not going to be on the field on third down, the money down"

And though Grant would be excellent on first and second - who the hell is going to sack Mahomes, Josh Allen , Burrowns, hell Bo Nix and Geno Smith - -on 3rd down?

                      Also agree Loveland

LOL, its not so much i think he is a clickbate krank....im just pretty certain he hasnt a clue what we will do. I like the kid but we arent telling him a thing. If i were a GM id lie my ass off too. If i wanted Loveland im tell him im maybe trading up for a WR ....Tmac or Golden. But gee man i really like that Hampton kid too. And id say it like im throwing him a secret bone.

Thats what id do. Maybe Joe did that lol

Looks like the Eagles are wanting a 4th round pick for Goeddert. Going to say it again, would rather trade a 3rd this year to move up for Loveland than trade a 4th or even 5th for Goeddert. One is a two year stop gap who will make $14m for one year. One is a long term play that will make like $20m for the first four years
