All 4 QB’s who played yesterday were pressured and sacked by pass rushers.

No matter who they get for the OL, Herbert has to make quicker decisions or use his legs in the future.

My point is he owns some of the problem. Brady was making that point yesterday. QB has to get the ball out quicker and he gave examples during the game.

Zero question Herbert has to use his legs more to take the next step. Every single winning QB in the playoffs used their legs to run effectively and keep drives moving. You simply cannot have zero running attempts like Herbert did in his dismal playoff performance.

G-Ro might also want to design plays that let him use his legs.. Jackson, Allen and Hurts all get those kinds of plays

They do but Allen, Stroud, Mahomes, Daniels, Hurts, also improvised better and scrambled on broken plays. Maybe it comes down to Herbert making quicker decisions...if he is feeling pressure and his receivers arent open tuck it in and run.

When you never run you arent even making defenses account for that threat and they will just keep teeing off with the pressure.

I like your top five list but I would probably exchange Teair Tartt or Morgan Fox for Troy De. I think Dye is replaceable - but for the vet mininmum or a little bit more if he is signed before free agency starts, no big deal.


The rest of the list once free agency starts - except for Godwin, I would substitute Hollywood Brown -- Godwin has been hurt too much. Even Slayton over Godwin
But overall like if - of course at various price points and years

Tartt or Fox over Dye I could live with. I almost put Tartt on the list but left him because I think they will get a DT/NT early in the draft. I also think Tartt would likely still be available after the draft in which they could probably get him cheaper later rather than sooner. He didn't have a lot of interest last year. Not sure if that has changed much this year.

I chose Godwin because I don't think he will be that expensive and would be the perfect player to bring in on a prove it type deal give his recent injury history. Signing him doesn't mean you can't sign another WR either.

You are right about Tartt - I think Ford will have a bigger market than he will.

As for Godwin -- all depends on the dollars. He is a good player but the injury bug has hit him a few times now. Thats concerning to me;.
Maybe Davante or Allen will be the choices -- who knows

I'm ok with either Davante or Allen and you could certainly add them to the list of FA targets if the price point works. I do agree that all these FAs are going to depend on the dollars that is why I added several FAs to target. Some of them won't work out price wise.

I don't understand why people (not you, I've just seen this suggested places) are trying to use big money and/or high draft capital on receivers who operate primarily out of the slot. We have 4 good players on offense and 1 of them is a receiver who primarily operates from the slot. I get that Ladd isn't a slot only guy and neither is Godwin, but they both take a pretty high percentage of their snaps from the slot and operate best from there. They lose something when they line up outside consistently. Egbuka has taken over 70% of his snaps from the slot, for example. Pure outside guys are harder to find and more expensive, but using significant capital getting a guy who is best used in a redundant role doesn't seem efficient when this team has so many needs.

That is how i see. Keep building the team. But if the IOL of the Oline is improved - that will be a big deal. Though I do think Hortiz needs to draft a TE and WR. Even if Rounds 3 and 4. But for sure, IOL is the key

Look how far the Raiders got with Bowers. Bowers IS the man but didn't get them wins.. It takes a team and with trenches built all TE's and Rec'ers instantly are better....again, my opinion

Its why I would probably be okay with trading for Metcalf if the draft pick compensation is correct and they can sign him longer term. I think he would be a solid addition and truly would be different than Ladd

For the over 32 crowd - I think Adams makes more sense than Allen as I think Adams has a bit more to his game that would complement Ladd. /

But you are right, need a true complement to Ladd and I think Golden makes more sense than Egbuka.
