Counterpoint. If we keep Palmer and/or Fehoko, for dirt cheap, and to give us some WR-X type presence, we can go for an explosive type.

Burden for example may be too much like Ladd, but he brings it.

Yeah ok...I am willing to file for bankruptcy to get Tee.

I respect that you are our numbers expert here.

But I just wanna say one thing.

OTC/Spotrac do not have access to key pieces of information...medicals and negotiations.

I would love to keep some people and build the roster brick by brick vs extreme makeover.

What if Bosa is willing to sign for several million below Khalil, train well and continue mental therapy ?

Yeah I know, you fresh EDGE.

IF they go into next season with Palmer and/or Fehoko I will be a little disappointed. They need to upgrade the X.
        1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
        2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
        3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
        4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

Tee Higgins immediately fixes the WR room without even getting another WR.
          Higgins X
          Ladd Y
          Johnston Z

Sure. Add another WR and a pass catching TE in the draft and keep Fehoko.

          Problem solved.

Jack Burton, I figure you might like a dude named Burden.

            I always liked Danny Woodhead.

I think there is a world where Burden MIGHT be there at 22. If Denver goes TE at 20. You are right it is iffy though

My big thing with Bosa is availability. If he were willing to be a situational 3rd down Edge player -- I think whether its the Chargers or any team, that is how he will be best moving forward. Limit snaps
I just don't know if that will be with the Chargers or not
Be nice if he trained with Herbert all off-season. That would be mandatory

It doesn't seem likely that he'll reach 22 but if so, take him. Two extremely productive slot WRs should be a bearable problem. Draft tall speed later or UDFA. The defense will be empty in the back end.

TT tried to build our IOL thru the draft too. He drafted both OT conversions and OG prospects. He took at least one or two OCs. he tried and tried and failed and failed. Its not a strong IOL draft class this year either. To me, the difference in the two is we know what the FA class can do, they have done it.

A 2025 plan with Zion and Bozeman starting is a plan to rerun 2/3 of last years epic IOL failure and hope its magically different. That is a plan to NOT fix our IOL. Our IOL was not just bad, it was very bad - arguably the worst IOL in the league, and I don’t want to run even 1/3 of it again, much less 2/3. This draft class is not going to fix 3/5 of our OL. Use FA, thats why its there.
Yeah but I already trust Hortiz to build thru the draft way more than I ever trusted TT.

Harbaugh LOVES Zion and Bozeman. I believe Pipkins' spot will be upgraded in FA. I think Hortiz will find a couple of rookie OL in the draft to come in and compete. I do think we START the year with both Zion and Bozeman, but a good chance one of them is replaced by a rookie due before the year is over.

Hortiz repeats the same process again in 2026, when the OL will finally be finished.

We're not paying Higgins $30 mil/year nor should we with the obscene number of holes on this roster.

may be true.... may be not.... there are loads of factors to consider and yes, we have many holes to fill:

                          1. Center - FA/trade
                          2. RG - FA
                          3. Big, Fast consistant playmaking improvisinational pass catching TE..... Loveland if he is there...Jeramiah has him as 7th best player in this draft so he may not be there at 22....
                          4. Big fast outside/all round WR who can actually get open and catch--FA or trade
                          5. RB's ... at least 2 young fast RB's--likely from this deep RB draft.....
                          6. Starting CB - FA/Trade/Draft
                          7. Pass rusher(s) to replace Bosa and/or Mack---likely from this drsft or trade
                          8. Punter who kicks for distance and hang time
                          9. Improve Depth

we have +/- 100 million to spend but lots of positions to fill...BUT:

-James is due 25 million -will he play for less or do we trade/cut him?
-Slater is due an extension (that will lower this years cap hit).... -high priority to keep and extend
                          -Bosa due 35 million
                          -Mack due 25-30 million...

How many of those do we keep or will they play for less?

One thing most people forget is how important a great receiving TE is? KC has won 3 SB's without a great WR, because of great QB, great coach, and great TE who cannot be stopped when it counts.... Great TE's are biggest mismatch for a defense.... to big and too fast for any one guy to cover.... and a TE gets open quicker than any other position.....which helps protect your QB.... Chargers have not had a great offense since Gates was playing.....because no one could cover him when it counted....We lost to Texans because we had no threat at TE.....forcing Herbert to wait longer for WR's to get open....

We do not necessarily need great DE's.... pressure can be designed/created using blitzes(like KC does) if you have great DT's that cannot be run on...... plus outside rushers have a hard time getting to QB's before bal is gone..... inside pass rushers cause far more trouble for QB's....

Minter can coach/scheme defense to cover up weaknesses and make average players much better.....

Hortiz has alot to deal with and alot of options that will grow as more teams decide to cut or trade players, but I trust hortiz to make the most out of the money and picks we have.... he is great at getting plenty of bang for the buck.....

This off season is going to be very interesting....
