Guess what. being reported, Hortiz and Harbuagh offered a 3rd round pick for DK Metcalf. IF that's true, they are willing to pay 30M per season to have the elite WR weapon for Herbert. So that tells me they are serious about fixing our current Wideout situation. Even if they don't pull the trigger thats good enough for me to know they understand the importance of having a very good WR!

Did you not read the above post? They were trying to get Metcalf. He’s top 10 money. This team was trying to get an X receiver like crazy. They were so desperate for another WR Hortiz tried to get a WR in Dionte Johnson who QUIT on Jim Harbaugh's brother TWICE!
Ronans offense is predicated on an X receiver. Slayton is a niche receiver. I wouldn’t put him in the category of X boundary, jump ball, vertical WR. I’m not saying he’s bad, but Mike Williams is more the type they need at X.

Horitz comes from Baltimore. They NEVER pay WRs

Jim's offense is not reliant on top end WRs.

I'm guessing the way they will operate is by drafting them and/or paying high mid FA WRs.


If you search my past posts I wanted Keenan gone for a long time because I knew Herbert needed more explosive weapons. We didn't have ANYONE who could score from anywhere. We now have that in Ladd. If any other coaching staff was here I could see them going for another explosive WR type. With this staff I think the priority is RB and TE, especially since Ladd is already here.

For the right price. Joe will be looking for a deal. Personally, I prefer Davante Adams, too.
There are some intriguing, lower-priced free agent WR's. This seems more Joe's style.
There are also some good WR's in the draft that could be good value in the mid-rounds.

with every release that happens as FA approaches Hortiz' options for putting together the 2025 roster continue to expand and improve, not just because he has more choices to go after but also because some of the guys he covets will have more competition for that cap money, which will hopefully allow Hortiz to add more talent overall...

Trade for Metcalf and the Chargers are short on the interior, RB, edge, corner, tight end .... with a good chunk of money less to take care of any of that in free agency.

They'll be missing a 2nd round pick to boot, so they will be short changed there.


They are still a year or two away from bringing in someone like a Metcalf.

There are enough choices in FA that it doesn't make sense to make that deal and you can tell that Metcalfs market is not what the Seahawks anticipated, they dropped the price by a huge percent right after releasing a statement that a "ton" of teams were negotiating with them...LOL

Basically they are getting the WR that Hortiz is going to draft at 55 with Metcalf. He’s proven but you are buying a 30 MIL a year contract for the 55th pick. He’s 27, but he’s a bit of a head case too. But he is good …
If I could push the pick to 2026 I would do it. And the Chargers don’t lose that key 55th pick in this draft.

Hortiz is a fantastic negotiator, tough as nails, that's where he's head and shoulders above Telesco...he has yet to panic and overpay for anything, he always gets value whether it's from the contracts themselves or the trades with other teams...they started at 1 and a 3 and went down to a 2 awful fast...the price could be a 3 and a 5 or 6 coming back to Hortiz by the time this is all said and done, assuming Hortiz is still even interested in doling out a 30 mil dollar contract to a guy that leads the league in offensive penalties for a WR...
