Big difference between the 2 is that Pierce would count toward the comp pick Brown wouldn't.Originally posted by YAC View Post1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree

I don't think it can be understated how smart it was for Hortiz to be first. First to get a quality center locked up, his biggest hole to fill, before free agency...before linemen start signing for crazy prices.
You might have had to pay more for Biadasz a week from now with up to 10 teams looking for centers and getting desparate.

They other thing is he doesn't count against the comp pic formula either as he was cut. Just a great move overall. Getting an above average OC for about 10m/yr give or take and doesn't count against the comp picks.Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View PostI don't think it can be understated how smart it was for Hortiz to be first. Tyler Linderbaum's market exploding
CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones reports that Linderbaum could make as much as $24 million per year. He's the best center on the market this offseason and one of the best in the NFL. A $24 million per year average annual value would blow the top of the center market out of the water. Creed Humphrey currently tops the list at $18 million per year.
We have an extra 14 million to improve the roster

Yeah, Bears just traded for C Gerrett Bradbury. Apparently they were desperately trying to get Biadasz in house so they wouldn’t let him leave and sign him. Too late.Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View PostI don't think it can be understated how smart it was for Hortiz to be first. The teams that are going to be in the C market now have to go through a drag out, knock down back and forth to get Linderbaum and McGovern isn’t going to sign with a team until Linderbaum gets signed. Why? Wait until Linderbaum is signed and the precedent is set for his contract and he maximizes the situation. That could go on for quite a while as other FA’s are signed while your team is caught up in negotiations that keep getting more and more expensive.
Hortiz nailed this. And he’s now free to attack FA.

JackBurton, I remember 53 weeks ago, trying to make you feel better about Bozeman, Becton and Jaimes. You were right.
