I think we run the ball at Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins. Beat those guys up... out-physical them. Slow them down.
Establish the run... and take your shots off of play-action. Don't turn the ball over. Protect the QB. That's why Joe Alt is here.

I can't wait to see Minter's defense against Gardner Minchew. Bring pressure with blitzes... confuse him. Cause turnovers.
I need to see Daiyan Henly and Junior Colson on the field at the same time. Both were draft favorites of mine. Cause chaos.

The Chargers opened last season against Christian Wilkins. Ekeler and Kelley had 233 yds rushing. Vic Fangio was the D coord and his fear of Herbert led him to keep two high safeties on every play. He refused to bring one of them into the box even though the Chargers were gashing him on the ground. I'm not that impressed by Wilkins. I'm just saying.

The year Christian Wilkins got drafted, I thought he was getting over-hyped. I liked his teammate (Dexter Lawrence) as much (if not better) than Wilkens. Don't get me wrong... Wilkens is good. But his game is as a penetrating pass rusher. He's not as stout against the run... and (you may have heard) we're gonna run the ball down people's throats. Buckle up that chin strap, Christian.

I agree with the Alt-Crosby matchup being key. Also will be curious watching Derwin this year. His head just wasn’t in it last season. I look forward to seeing the old Derwin again.

Honestly think this will be low scoring affair. I love what I’ve seen of our D so far. O, not so much.

Right now we only have one blocking TE - Dissly. Hurst is not a good blocker. I think last year PFF graded him at or near the bottom as a blocker last season. Smartt is a converted WR who may be the lightest player listed as a TE in the league, there are WRs in the NFL who weight more than he does. That is why I keep saying Hortiz will add another TE before the roster is finalized going into week 1.

The Chargers' offense scored 34 pts in that game. It should never have come down to that final drive if the defense was competent. And what killed the Chargers on that final possession was Kellen Moore's atrocious blitz pick up scheme. These failures are not going to happen under Harbaugh.

JJ Watt is a first ballot HOF yet the Patriots always neutralized him. How? Double teaming and chipping Watt all night long and Brady getting rid of the ball quick.

TE Fisk is on the practice squad. They've experimented with OG/FB McClellan. Might chose to scheme an anti-Maxx kinda offense.
I think we'll run and quick pass for the most part. LVR's run D sucked last year. I think we need to play in Roman's wheel house. Pound the rock. Frequently anyway.
