After all of gnashing of teeth - I'll say it once again; THIS WAS NOT A ONE YEAR FIX.

If you thought so you were blinded by optimism. This was/is a (minimum) 2 year rebuild to field a team that can compete with the best teams. Our flaws have been exposed, and there's no real fix this year. We're going to have to ride it out and hope for the best.

I'm going to be pissed if Hortiz wastes draft picks on band aid players this year. Management has a plan, and unfortunately that plan involves growing pains. I want them to stick with it . . . . . . . . . .

Only signings I didn't care for were Gus, Hurst and wasn't real high on Bozeman as better OCs were a available. Chark was meh for me as well as I called him injury prone and here we are but he isn't making much.

And you know we can curse here so doubt your reported post does anything.

Well, we've got 2 weeks before the trade deadline, but if he's going to pull the trigger do it right damn now.

          Anatomy of a Chargers' loss:

--Seven dropped passes, per Popper. Herbert for 27-39, meaning that only five balls were uncatchable, and some of those were pure throwaways.

--Two critical fumbles, both on punchouts by the Cardinals, when the Chargers were in a great position. Reagor's fumble (after making a catch on his only target of the game) was amplified by the very bad luck that the ball rolled into the end zone, causing a loss of possession.

--A fortunate recovery by the Cardinals of their own fumble.

--Two questionable calls that didn't go the Chargers' way in the last two minutes of the game.

--One very bad play by Dupree, who lost contain on Murray's long TD run. Dupree has had a number of bad plays already and may not have been a very good signing.

--One lost timeout when Rice did not line up correctly. Herbert was as hot as you'll ever see him.

--One bad sack taken by Herbert, who had plenty of time to throw the ball away but may have been trying to do too much.

--An inability to run or to stop the run. The interior OL was being manhandled at times, and the Chargers' vaunted run defense was gashed.

--Insufficient talent in the WR and TE rooms (but noting Dissly's career-high eight receptions).

And yet the Chargers almost won, due to Herbert's and Dicker's excellence.

You are correct it was never a 1 year fix. I hoped for playoffs, but I didn't expect it. However, you can't just waste the season without making phone calls and seeing what deals you can make to improve the team. To me that's the same as sandbagging and hoping for a higher draft pic. Hello? You play to Win the game. The 2nd Rd for Kupp is a bad deal, IMO. But there could be better fits that doesn't tie our hands next year.

                /agreed

Kupp is too old for a 2nd rounder... I'd give up the 4th we got for KA that's about it.

Will Dissly had 81 yds receiving last night, the most he's had in a game since 2019, and the 2nd most in his career.

In his first ever game as a rookie in 2018, Dissly had 105 yds receiving and scored a TD. In 2019 in a game against the Rams he had 81 yds receiving. He had not even broke 50 yds in a game since, until last night, when he caught 8 of 11 targets, averaging 10 yds per catch. His previous season high was 3 catches for 29 yds @ Carolina. He's caught 21 of 26 targets this season for 192 yds, he has no TDs. He's scored 13 TDs in his career.

I'm not advocating that Joe throw in the towel. If he can steal a receiver like Kupp for a low round draft choice AND it won't handicap the cap AND he feels that he'll help the team beyond this year then I'd be all for it. I just don't want him grasping at straws - that's a TT move . . . . . . . . . . .

We need to be more realistic in our expectations

Hortiz was able to add a lot of depth and a few starters with the money he got back from the KA trade, without that money we wouldn't have been able to add Fulton, Molden, Perryman, Dobbins, Ford, Dupree, Edwards, Dissly, etc etc etc....but go ahead and keep spouting your nonsense, LOL...

Keenan rolled the dice that all those guys would get cut so he wouldn't have to restructure, he almost got his wish too...it's a miracle that Hortiz managed to get a 4rth rounder and two outta the four guys to stay with the Chargers...Keenan proved he didn't give a fuck about improving the team...
So I’ve been told that cursing is ok on here so with that said, your take is batshit insane (I want to be clear I’m calling your take batshit insane not you, I’m sure your a nice person 💜). It’s absolutely fucking nuts to think that the chargers didn’t have the cap space to keep Allen. They clearly did, and the Chargers didn’t want to keep him. It’s fucking obvious that the Chargers gutted their offensive weapons and did so at the detriment of this team. For fucks sake Allen had on multiple occasions including the year past adjusted his contract to help the team, was fucking coming off his best year as a Pro where he only stopped playing because the team was crap and Herbert was hurt. Then came back ready to play for Harbaugh and then was asked to take a pay cut. That’s like your boss coming to you after you do you best work and telling you to take a pay cut. It’s fucking insane.

You know what else is fucking insane? This team thinking Josh Palmer, Laad McConkey and a bunch of cast offs and no ones was going to be able to take pressure off this running game. It’s literally addled horse crap to think we went from one extreme to the other in one offseason. This offense isnt better it’s just different. Harbaugh and Hortiz just crapped the bed when they flipped to an offense that could only run and can’t pass from one that could only pass and not run, fucking insane. this is the NFL, bad defenses will stack the box against you and force you to beat 8 men boxes all day which the cardinals did and we couldn’t do anything about.

This team is fucking worse not having Allen. Harbaugh made a mistake not keeping Allen if he actually wanted to, idk… fucking win. Allen was off the books next year regardless so the trade has tank written all over it and we’re reaping what we sow right now. Revisionist fucking bullshit or not we get to experience the Allenless offense now and it looks and smells like horse shit.

The Rams reportedly want a 2nd for Kupp.

If Dissley and Fehoko are your go to guys ..... that ain't good.

To think that some here chortled about us not getting Roman's offense, and that it doesn't require top tier receivers .
