Harbaugh needs to realize that Roman is not the answer. He cannot let the offensive ship sink because of blind loyalty to his friend.

I think Roman gets 1 more year with some upgrades Olinemen, a TE1 and a couple new WRs. But they do need to bring in a young innovative offensive mind to bring some new ideas within this O. Marcus Brady and Trestmen are of the same mindset and have been around for years.

Harbaugh will win here and will win in his way. And it isn't with a flashy OC. He is going to fix the oline, fix the running game, continue to upgrade the D and play smash mouth football. People are not very realistic if they think he will deviate from that.

no..... our players are not good enough and we dont have enough of them.....

Harbaugh makes so-so players look way better then they are..... TB's backup defenders covered our receivers very well..... and their DC was smart enough to keep blitzing up the middle where chargers are weakest......

Chargers weaknesses have been exposed before, but it was dismissed because the teams that beat us before were viewed as top contenders like KC, ravens, etc....

EVERY great running team has beaten us..... though this team is vastly improved from previous years when bad rushing teams would run all over the Chargers....

We could not score on TB after first 3 series of this game..... and I'm not sure we got a first down in 2nd half except for a couple of penalties....

In a few days, we will be playing a much better defense that destroyed the colts (who the Chargers would have a tough time beating)....DEN will be a very tough game this Thursday...though home teams almost always win on Thursday....

Even with a rookie QB, DEN is better in the trenches and secondary than Chargers..... Chargers might not win this game either.... TB has a bad pass defense and we could not score on them after the first few possessions.... and we did not even get first downs???.... i can see not scoring but we did not even get first downs????? why?????

Chargers will have to beat NE and raiders on road who will both be highly motivated to be spoilers.....to have a shot at playoffs....

if we can't easily beat these two teams i don't even want the chargers in the playoffs.

Why do you think Herbert struggled today?

Because of the lack of a running game,
Tampa blitzed often and Herbert couldn't anticipate openings in Tampa's coverage to get the ball out quickly.

The receivers are not world beaters, but good enough, given Tampa's deficiencies.

If you consider Herbert a franchise QB, then yeah, he's not delivering and is as responsible for the loss as anyone.
Given that you aren't getting what you are paying at $50 million dollars a year, its a big concern.

He's a 500 QB .... even with Harbaugh as head coach..

The draft questions about Herbert not anticipating receivers getting open before their break are starting to creep up again,
and the Chargers are getting killed by blitzing teams with Herbert not getting the ball out.

Today, he looked confused .....it happens too often. I don't blame it all on McConkey, QJ, Palmer and Chark.
When the D is sending blitzers all game, the offensive line needs some help in the QB getting rid of it, or moving to reduce the pressure.

Maybe the problem is Roman ... the combination of the two is just not working out, given that they can't run the ball.

I considered Herbert on draft day another Drew Bledsoe ... who was a good/solid NFL quarterback.

I'm starting to have questions about Herbert as a franchise QB.

This is literal insanity. Herbert has record breaking numbers when coached well but one season under Roman and it’s Herbert’s fault? Harbaugh absolutely hosed Herbert this year in the hopes that he can have a better year next year. This was always a rebuilding year, we just happen to have a cake schedule that allowed our improved defense to look elite. The defense is much improved but the offense was never ever going to be good. It was gutted and meant to be transformed into a ground and pound offense without any of the ground and pound pieces. The problem is Harbaugh saddled this team with a one trick pony OC, without the ability to do what he does he can’t adjust. He’s not capable of scheming the tough offenses that don’t have exactly what he needs. To make this offense actually decent it would take someone with the offensive chops to scheme it correctly. That’s not easy and takes a high level of pass offense skill.

This team is what it always has been, a work in progress. It’s a blessing disguise. This team needs better talent and if they can draft higher they can get some amazing playmakers. This team needs a workhorse back and we all know that renting a RB in FA is dangerous so that means getting one in the draft. There should be some good options.

I am just observing the entire staff...Harbaugh, Roman, Devlin, Hardwick....

They talk tip of the spear....how it is the foundation of the team....this regime is very o line focused....so maybe figure out sometthing more functional?

Its game after game, Herbert injury after injury. There is just no improvement 15 weeks into the season

we may beat them, but like EVERY game this season, those games will be close..... Chargers are not a great team yet... but we are greatly improved over previous years.....

He was hit literally every single down... He was on the ground most of the game... Like I said, insane.

I first tuned in on 3rd down, when Herbert threw a five yards short of the first down inside Tampa Bay's territory.
There was no pressure and he went to the wrong guy.

Happens too often with Herbert: he's not spotting people well; he's not getting rid of the ball quickly and hence takes punishment.
When he had time, he missed people.

The 5 yard outs and the guys 5 yards over the middle, sitting in a gap, were the only passes he seemed to complete.

So if we have zero threat of a running game and receivers and TEs cannot get any early separation and Herbert is getting instant pressure up the middle with no pocket to step up into, who is he going to get the ball out quickly to? I keep seeing a few repeatedly post this critique and while I suppose he could just throw it away repeatedly and take a bunch of intentional grounding calls, that isn't an answer.
