I wonder which of our current coaches might have pressed to sign Bozeman as our starting center and told the brass there's no need to pick up another in FA or the draft.

Perhaps it was the GM who had him on his roster before??? We need an upgrade.

I’m calling it now, it won’t happen after next year either. This does not mean I am a Roman fan, I am just looking at Harbaugh’s history and he isn’t going to change the formula he knows works for him. And he believes Roman can run that scheme.

Let's hope he stops believing that sooner rather than later. Because I know he believes in wins more than having his buddy from a decade ago running things (into the ground).

Bro, I have been saying that this is a player evaluation year. There were a lot of leftovers that Harbaugh had to evaluate. They couldn't gut the whole team because they were in cap hell when they took over. The oline is a work in progress and I believe the OGs will be gutted. In the offseason I expect Zion will either be traded to a team that needs an OG or outright cut. He doesn't fit the scheme. I'm sure he will fit in with another team somewhere. Pip will be cut. They will probably try and shop him but doubt they will give a draft pick for him. Boz they will likely r-signed but will try and find a center in the draft. If it works out Boz will be a backup.

I'm sure Harbaugh will also need a WR and TE in the draft. I just don't see one in FAncy other than Higgens and not sure they will pony up the money especially if the go heavy on the oline in FAncy. The defense will be tweaked with bothe draft picks, FAncy, and re-signing some of the one year players. I expect this team will make some noise next year. This year just wasn't it and if people expected the Chargers were going to dethrone the Chiefs are make a deep run in the POs then they need to reassess their expectations.

Tensions are rightly running high but what we are seeing is a mismatch between personnel and scheme. Is that the coaching or the players? It's clearly both. An offense that can't run or pass block up the middle clearly should be prioritizing screens and short/hot routes as pressure up the middle is the great eraser. Play action to setup deep passing only works until they realize you can't run.

One can argue that coaching should be adapting to the ability of their personnel and I would agree with you which is why I was hoping to see Roman replaced with Trestman early on. Roman's adjustments all just seem to be variations on a theme and not really understanding the deficiencies we have. The arguments that it's Herberts fault ring false to me given we saw him put up mega numbers in Lombardi's dink and dunk offense.

this was a team loss, Minter got schooled in this one too, but so far this year it's the first time we've seen minter look this bad, but on the other hand roman has been garbage all year long, no way this team has 8 wins without Minter...and I know people don't want to hear about the odd personnel decisions under roman and frankly I'm tired of talking about them, we knew going in that there would be rough spots with Harbaugh, he's had them at every stop, I just didn't expect him to saddle his golden child with this OC...the sheer lack of creativity is glaringly obvious to me not sure why folks are still like, wait until he has more talent then judge, LOL! it is what it is and he's just not up to snuff if Harbaugh is serious about winning multiple titties...

Herbert has escaped criticism over the years because it was too easy to blame the coaches. He will avoid again since we have no offensive talent. Still, if we fall short this year, I figure other teams may just come up with a deal. Would the Giants be a potential suitor?

Who would they have signed? The best centers were signed early and cost a ton. The Chargers didn't have the cap to sign any of the top centers.

True but the Justin Eboigbe pick in the 4th round where a few centers were drafted isnt looking so good.

Well you cant expect your defense to excel and keep the other team to 20 points every week. Sometimes you play a top offense with a good OC and good weapons and you have to be able to compete in a shootout. Greg Roman's offense can't

We only got 14 first downs all game. 2 times this year we got only 10 first downs once against the Falcons (a game we should have lost) and against the Steelers. I remember the Fouts era Chargers getting 30 first downs a game and was disappointed when they didn't get 30.

Yeah, me too! I'm as old as the team and remember those Coryell years so well.... hard to stomach the last several years of stuggling so hard to score....especially with today's rules that make it so easy to score and so hard to play defense....
