    Bront Bird

14 tackles last night, 1st on the team, 4th in the NFL. One tackle for loss behind the LOS on the 4th and inches play, one of the biggest plays for the Bolts. Gave up a TD to the TE.

It's like I keep saying, you may not like the athleticism, but he makes plays and you can't deny the production.

I guess this is a glass half full kind of post with Bird. The other side of the coin saw Bird getting beat for two TD's, getting continuously destroyed in the running game and missing gap assignments.

Are you kidding me? The dude was BRUTAL last night. All those tackles were like 10 yards down field. He had the good play on the 4th down stop, but was repeatedly picked on by Schaub. Can't get him off the field quick enough.

I thought Bird was awful but the DTs did him no favors.

That guy was Houston's little bitch in the passing game. He was totally owned. Everytime Schaub had a matchup on Bird, it was laser time. Those were probably the plays in the game where he unloaded fastest. All those long passes to Johnson were after he'd felt some pressure.

He looked a speed too slow vs both run and pass and he looked lost in much of the running game. Te'o has to be a huge improvement.

9 passes and 3 TDs to TEs. Were they all Bird's guy? Why was Bird in there when they should have been in nickle or dime?
8 passes to RBs. Were they all Bird's guy?

No he can't cover a TE, but no charger in the last 30 years has been able to cover a TE.

And he's definitely not fast enough to cover a TE and RB on the same play.

yet you praised kwame geathers who was even worse. bird is underrated. he wasn't the problem. the problem was cam and geathers not occupying any blockers and allowing guards to get to the LBs. te'o will have the same struggles bird did.

I praised Geathers on one play (and Liuget), which he blew up. Yea the DT's weren't stellar, but the main issue with Bird was in coverage. He's slow and didn't anticipate any routes. He was abused in coverage. He also gets run over in run defense.

No doubt the Dt's were an issue. But no way Te'o looks like that in coverage. No way.
