Chiefs at Chargers Pre Game Discussion (Wk 1)

The key to winning for the Chargers to win this game is keeping the Chargers' offense on the field with a strong run game. I feel more confident about that with Najee Harris practicing and possibly/probably able to play week 1 along with Becton being on the field. I'd feel more confident with Slater and Alt at the tackles, but all things considered, Alt at LT with Pipkins at RT, where he has a lot of experience, and Becton next to him, it may be good enough.
On another note, watching some vids this AM there was a suggestion that Brazil might not have allowed Rashee Rice into the country because he's a convicted felon.

I also see Mahome's production drop caused by (a) reduced skill group talent and (b) degraded OL. they have been winning more by defense than Mahomey the last 2 years. As for the Ref thing: It sure seemed to me they got a lot more calls than they lost but I may have an observational bias. The majority of the world sees it as I do, we have to all have flawed lenses for me to be wrong. Does that continue, does it stop, was it never even there? ???Originally posted by SK21209 View PostLast year Rice missed most of the year, Brown missed most of the year, Pacheco missed most of the year and wasn't the same when he came back, and their tackles were pretty bad but the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl anyway. I don't buy that Mahomes has regressed, the pieces around him have just drastically deteriorated the last few years.
I wouldn't be shocked if we won, but I'm never picking us against them until I actually see us do it.
As to the support issues, I do not know they upgraded their skill group much and if their new OT rookie does not shine from the first snap, that could still be a problem group. I like our chances in the game, but we have to come out playing well in all 3 phases.Justin Herbert is Elite. Ride or Die ...

I like Minter's approach to contain and frustrate offenses and force mistakes as applied to KC. I think we might see better inside pressure from our DT group than last year, can the Edges also force the issue?Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post
The Chief offense is looking better and more explosive than last year. Underestimate them at your own peril. ( in case no one has learned that by now)
For our offense, if OH+NH can pound out good runs despite what I expect to be average at best OL blocking - that can be a difference from 2024 rush attack. Having multiple WRs that can get open fast will be a huge counter to Spag pressure packages. Herbie can sustain drives to score if he gets the support he deserves.Justin Herbert is Elite. I saw two video clips of him in practice yesterday - he did not look shabby at all (grain of salt on reading the tea leaves of a couple practice reps without anyone even allowed to hit him). I think he'll fill a 50/50 role quite well even if he's not in peak endurance game shape to carry a 25+ carry load all by himself - he won't have to. He can give his all to 12-15 carries and he has a lot of experience running behind poor OL blockingOriginally posted by Velo View PostThe key to winning for the Chargers to win this game is keeping the Chargers' offense on the field with a strong run game. Last year KC played the same schedule Chargers did with three exceptions. Every one says the sched was why we had 11 wins. The sched was favorable to KC too.Originally posted by SK21209 View PostLast year Rice missed most of the year, Brown missed most of the year, Pacheco missed most of the year and wasn't the same when he came back, and their tackles were pretty bad but the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl anyway. Meh! That novelty wore off ... they're still trying to milk it with the engagement, but it wore off.Originally posted by PhilaBoltster View PostI hate to break it to all of you, but if Taylor Swift is in attendance at this game in Brazil there is no way the Chiefs don’t win the game. No possible way the NFL will allow that.
I've predicted a separation just before the wedding date .... sometime after February.

For some reason, I thought this post was by CanadienBolt, which surprised me for its impartial, astute and sympathetic assessment of the Chargers needs against the Chiefs.Originally posted by dmac_bolt View Post

My bad! Poster merely quoting CanadianBolt's missive and responding to his worship of all things KC.
I'm currently waiting for the Chiefs to waive Brashard Smith, with the signing of Edwards-Helaire.
Which poster was it here who positively salivated about that 7th round choice by the Chiefs, using it in his demand that everyone recognize the Chief's superior draft?
