Chiefs use to sleepwalk through 14 wins ..... 6 being within their own division going up against:

Chargers under Staley, Broncos under Fangio and Hackett, Raiders under Antonio Pierce and Josh McDaniels.

Those times are long gone! Did they win all 6 last year? ... 3 came in unlikely, somewhat miraculous scenarios

Every fan of every team believes they have improved, perhaps Jets fans being the exception. Then comes the regular season. I'll believe it when I see it.

Breaking Down Initial 53 Man Roster | LA Chargers

I try to take time to watch/listen to the Chargers Weekly every week with Matt "Money" Smith, Chris Hayre and Jahleel Addae. They know the team better than anybody else. Key takeaways:

The last few roster decisions on who to keep and who to waive came down who they thought they could sneak through waivers and who would get claimed, they didn't think they could sneak through DBs Nikko Reed, Kendall Williamson & Eric Rogers. Matt observes that the most claimed players of waivers are DBs. Tony Jefferson came off the PS last season to play significant snaps, expect that to happen again this year. Addae observes the 2020 rule change that allows veterans to be on practice squads has extended the careers of guys like Jefferson. Jefferson is a SD native, he lives with his family in Poway, probably doesn't want to go anywhere else.

Matt observes he was sure Rocket was going to clear waivers, Hortiz probably thought so too. It's a rarity he said for RBs to get claimed off waivers on cutdown day, the Browns only did it because they haven't signed their 2nd rnd rookie RB Quinshon Judkins. Rocket was the only RB claimed off waivers, while 14 DBs were claimed.

Addae says what I have been saying for years, players drafted after the 5th rnd are generally in the same talent pool as UDFAs. Which is why I advocate limitng the draft to 5 rnds. Do 1st & 2nd rnd on day 1; rnds 3-5 on day 2. Nix the 3rd day of teh draft. The current process is too long IMO.

Matt observes that Sanders wasn't that impressive in the preseason, in his 9 years with the Chargers only one UDFA RB really impressed him, and it was Austin Ekeler. Rocket was not nearly as impressive as Ekeler. He says Rocket is redundant with the type of backs Hampton, Harris and Haskins are, and that he would probably be inactive on game day. Harris's lack of conditioning will likely limit him to not many carries, Hampton will carry the load. Addae says he doesn't know if the Chiefs really understand what they're going to be facing in Hampton and Harris, it's a "different monster," referring to Dobbins last season. Matt talks up Haskins, he's under-appreciated by fans. Matt also talks up Tucker Fisk, Fisk became a necessity with the loss of Slater, they're going to plant Fisk next to Pipkins to help him out, there's gonna be a lot of TE heavy sets. The TE room is much more complete now, hugely upgraded over last season. Addae observes Fisk really like an old school fullback.

They're going to elevate LS Rick Lovato to the 53, but Hortiz is going to wait as long as possible while other teams are getting their rosters settled so when they have to waive a player it will be less likely he'll be claimed. They're also going to roster a 9th OL before Brazil. Hortiz knows how to manipulate roster rules to keep from having to cut players (like the Dodgers apparently do) , Matt observes that Rogers, for example, could go on IR.

The Chiefs are one injury (C. Jones) away from being a poor DL. They are not very deep... and without him, they are below average. I like LB Bolton and NB McDuffie. After that, they're pretty average. Their OT's should worry them. If the refs start throwing flags for false starts (Jawaan)... they'll be in 2nd/3rd and long a lot this year. Their LT hasn't played a snap in a regular game. Their LG had an awful year last year and is taking over for one of the best LG's (Thuney) in thee last 10 years. Their RB's are junk. Their WR's are just OK.... statistically, I think QJ was better than all of them last year.

I think the Chiefs' roster is getting a pass from some of you... while our own roster is getting dumped on.
For everyone worrying about Becton's health... he has played in 35 out of 38 games the last 2 years. Fact.
This is just one example of certain fans focussing only on the negative.
Oh I think we have as good as a chance to beat the Chiefs this year as any in many years. They are not infallible. But it is definintely show me time. Talk is cheap

I am not giving the Chiefs roster a pass i just refuse to say it sucks and players like Chris Jones are old and done. Basically this dynasty has my respect to go with my hatred and I dont take them lightly, kinda ridiculous anyone does at this point.

I like our team but i am not cocky. This division will be ruthless this year. I hear some on here dissing the Broncos. I wouldnt, they are picked for 2nd in the division far more than we are. They dont have the weaknesses on the lines we do

              So, Let's play! Go Bolts!
The games are always close. Chargers always play the Chiefs tough, they just cant seem to get it done. 7 straight losses now.

It is completely reasonable take to want to see a result, a win, before shooting off the mouth about the Chiefs demise

That's true. We never seem to get to play them healthy.

next Friday is a great shot to beat them

The physical running of Omarion Hampton will be a big factor in this game. Hammer the Chief defense for 4 quarters, and sprinkle in Najee for a few carries if he is up to it

I'm all in favor of pounding them with the run but their greatest weakness last year was pass defense. We'll need to check that out.

bruh - every team and every defense will give up a play to a HOF player. That doesn't tell you if anything has changed. LAC gave up 19 and 17 pts the last two games, , Kelce can have his 15 yard completion if we do the same again next week because I'm looking for us to score >20.

Do not despair over one play.
