It was evident to me, from the close up view provided by network TV, that Herb's injury was a dislocated left ring finger.

Unless he also broke that finger-- and it didn't appear that he did- Herb should be able to take snaps under center in 8 days.

Just my opinion, of course, but all of my hand injuries (12 and counting) turn out to be oddly informative when it comes to
evaluating injuries to players' digits.

Edit: Herb did, in fact, break the metacarpal bone that's connects to the left ring finger knuckle.

They'll know more after the surgical procedure he's scheduled to undergo tomorrow.

Herbert is going to play next week. A broken finger on his non throwing hand is nothing.

Unless an extra week doesn’t do anything to help recovery, I think it should be Lance starting, call up DJ Uiagalelei from PS as QB2, and have Herbert as the emergency QB for the Eagles game. Especially if Omarion is coming back. They’re all important games but I fear rushing Herbert back too quickly after surgery might make things worse. This is all base on 2023 stuff where he had a bye to recover after he similarly broke a finger on his left hand.

The little I saw, it looked like a dislocation of that finger or worse a compound fracture. Throwing hand or not that sumbitch was throbbing like a heartbeat. He then went on to throw a couple of piss missiles and then throw a lead block. He's as tough as they come.

Was this Raiders defense pretty much intact today? Were they missing anyone important?

I very seriously doubt Herbert will miss anytime. If he came back in to play, he can go after the surgery, but I can promise you they will have his hand well protected.

This is my take also. Fingers heal fast on top of that, the game isn't until Monday.
