Denver should be ashamed about how our backups almost beat them. I would love to play them again this postseason!Originally posted by La Costa Boy View PostSaw one of the talking heads spout off last night about our game. He said that NE's lack of pass rush would help us. Then he went on to talk about the Patriots very good running game, Maye......etc. Not much attention paid to us at all. No mention of just holding the Broncos, who were in "Playoff Mode" per their coach, to 4 field goals. And that was with a bunch of guys in street clothes. I like the match-up. Hell it's the playoffs so suit up and get to it. One thing I did notice was that the love affair with the NFL and the networks and the Patriots is still as strong as ever......hence our game being prime time Sunday night.
Bring it on.
But Bronco offense is dog crap compared to Patriots. I don’t think we can extrapolate from Broncos to Patriots in terms of the offenses we’ll face.

Me neither. I know all about the NE competition but Maye has that offense clicking in high gear ...Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post

A case could be made that Herbert has the bigger albatross around his neck considering the two humiliating one and done playoff losses.Originally posted by ShockNAwe View PostI also like the fact that this is Mays 1st PO game. Before the media anoints him the next greatest let’s see him in the PO's..
From a pressure standpoint, I think it’s worse for Herbert.

I have this dreaded feeling we’re all underestimating the absolute buzz saw we’re running into. Everyone is focused on the Pats lack of pass rush and easy schedule but we’re missing the absolute insanity efficiency ratings of Maye and a lethal offense. He just broke Brady’s record of consecutive games with a passer rating over 100. Easy schedule or not, we haven’t seen anyone like him all year. Oh and their defense gives up less PPG than ours with similar yards allowed.
Even if our OL doesn’t get completely blown up, it may not matter as we simply won’t be able to keep pace. Outside of facing a bad Cowboys defense, our offense hasn’t been able to do anything since the bye week. I get the feeling that our defense will put up an admirable fight to keep us in it but they just get rolled from fatigue in the second half as the offense leaves them out to dry. Worst OL I think I’ve ever seen.Last edited by Boltx; 01-05-2026, 08:37 AM.ESPN Screename: GoBolts02

No doubt and Maye has the benefit of Josh McDaniels while Herbert is saddled with the ball and chain of Greg RomanOriginally posted by Riverwalk View Post

Would another embarrassing outing in the playoffs get Harbaugh to reconsider Roman’s position, at least?Originally posted by jamrock View Post

Unfortunately, Roman’s Get Out of Jail card is the OL. They will get blamed for every short falling of the offense.Originally posted by Boltx View Post

Personally, I think Roman could have schemed better to overcome some of their deficiencies but I can’t prove it and sensing how loyal of a guy Harbaugh is, he knows if he fires Roman it will look like it was all the OC’s fault versus shared blame.
What a shame. We all know there are more creative minds that could make the offense more potent.

Yes, a key to this game is can the offense stay on the field and can the defense get the Pats off the field. As like you said, the Pats offense is so good that the Chargers will have to keep pace. To do that, they still need to be balanced
I am not taking the Patriots lightly. But of all the matchups, its not bad. The key is can Roman develop a game plan that allows success early and can the defense not let the Pats get ahead early

I would agree my point is Herbert has been to the PO's before. Experience (good or bad) should benefit him. Fingers crossed.Originally posted by Riverwalk View Post
