If he keeps producing, hard not to. He looks like he did in his rookie year. He's a mismatch with how he's currently being used. He needs to prove he can stay healthy all season though before we get too far into this discussion.

I do think there will need to be some contract work with some of these guys in their last years to stay on this team.

If their play merits staying on the team, I think we'll make the effort to keep them. We'll pretty much only have cap room to resign Butler, but if the team plays well, it may be worth it. Like I've mentioned before, all these guys will be coming off the cap in 2015 when we really need the money to possibly extend/resign a lot of these young defenders if they merit it.

It's a long way away though, let's see how they play till mid season at least.

actually the cap should stay flat until 2015. And the Chargers are already really close to that projected cap
